Eh, the fact we're mentioned may just be a favor to Lavin, although I hope that's not the case. Dickie V and Lav are like BFF.

Has to be a complete oversight.  How can Marquette (the consensus pre-season favorite) not only not be in his top 25 but not even just outside?

Maybe he sees them as 5th in the Big East.  The four teams he put in his top 37 are all good teams with Sweet 16 potential IMO.

Then he is a complete nice person.  Take your pick.

So a team that the entire CBS college basketball crew picks to win the Big East and the team that you can bet will be a near unanimous pick to win the BE by the coaches this week is not worthy to be in his top 30 or even top four of the Big East.

Really?

Relax.  Marquette is a safe pick because of its consitency and because it is coing off a nice tournament run. They are not a no-brainer by any means.

CBS Poll reference;

“@jeffborzello: Good question. I'll go with St. John's. Others: Tennessee, Cal, Iowa. RT @mynewhate: Which team outside your top 25 has the highest ceiling?”

No Big East respect--the league has to do it the old fashioned way--earn it.

The Marquette thing is not about BE getting respect since others are recognized it is about a consensus favorite being completely ignored or forgotten.

When was the last time we were reanked in the preseason top 25? 99-00? Were we? Artest left so maybe not. If not then before Lopez senior year? If not then you have to go back to Louie's last season. That is crazy. At most we have been ranked in top 25 pre season twice since Louie left and possibly never.

It's Dickie V for goodness sake!  He would put Duke 1 through 15 if he could.  Also, its funny reading him write like he speaks.  Makes me want to find the volume for my internal dialogue

Didn't Marquette and Georgetown lose a lot of players last year? Why are they expected to be so good ?

Marquette lost a lot of its backcourt.  Their frontline is all back and really good.  Plus they have a great recruiting class coming in.

Definitely not a "can't miss" though.  They are  a safe pick because Buzz usually gets the most out of his teams, and there are question marks surrounding the other four big dogs in the Big East.

Creighton - new conference
Gtown- Lost Whittington (on top of the loss of Porter)
St. John's - Sucked the last two years but most talent in the conference
Nova - Good not great last year, can they make the jump to dominant?
