Creighton Game - Player of the Game
« on: February 09, 2014, 10:26:08 PM »
I give my vote to D'angelo.  He hit the big trey, and then sealed it with foul shots.   But good effort by everyone.   I thought Jakarr's defense was the best I've ever seen from him.   Him and Obekpa didn't fall for shot fakes, and stayed grounded.   Not a ton of blocks, but they played great D.

Anyway... I vote for D'lo.

Vote goes to D'lo. Major props to JaKarr. Didn't know he had that kind of D in him.

i am going to with d'lo too because of the three and the freethrows at the end. jakarr is a close second with the defense against mcdermott.

It's Sampson - because of his defense on McDing-a-ling.

Jakarr for me (and imo, not even close). McD didn't score in the last 8 minutes I believe. A huge part of that was Jakarr and when he was on him it was shutdown time.

The D'lo 3 was the play of the game but you got to be crazy to not give it to Karr. The best player in college hoops didn't get a FG attempt over the last 6 minutes or something ridiculous like that all thanks to Karr battling him tooth and nail on the defensive end

Sampson because he of his D. Sacrificed his offensive game, bought in 100% to the game plan and executed it .

Tough call, but I'm going with Harrison.  I respect Sampson's D on McDermott, but there was no chance without Harrison.  Huge go-ahead three...awesome decision-making all night...won it for us at the end.  No turnovers, two steals, tough D.  Great game.

I went with Jakarr, but just looking back through the highlights, that Harrison block was really big I think.

Big 3 by Dlo, again clutch foul shooting, don't win without it but also don't win without Karr holding McD scoreless over last 8 minutes. didn't think Karr was capable of covering him let alone shutting him down. happy to eat crow on that one so to help it down voted for Karr!  :)

Dlo was big down the stretch but I sat under the Creighton basket in the second half and saw up close how hard Jakarr was working on McDermott. Jakarr gets my vote.

Give Karr his props for his tough D, but at some point in the game Dom, CO and Primo all played Dougie and everybody played him reasonably well and I think we wore him down.  Coming off that DePaul game after two days also helped out.  Everybody played good D, especially in the second half.

It was Dlo again down the stretch, hitting that three and those foul shots.  He also had that block on Dougie, reminded me of a huge late game block he had against nd last year that helped cement the victory.  Dlo gets the vote.

Samson  and Harrison share. Kudos to Marrilac for proving the broken watch theory. But seriously good call on Sampson on McDermott I would not have thought Sampson could play a disclplined Defensive game like he did. My choice of Pointer  on McDermott would have been a disaster!

Who picked Pointer? Was that for getting away with a dumb lane violation on a foul shot?
