Biggest Win In Big East History
« on: April 05, 2016, 11:19:19 AM »
Because of what it means at this moment for the conference and who they beat, our arch rival ACC's flagship program to get here.

If you disagree, name a win that has greater historical significance.

'85 when 3 BE teams made the final 4, and two the championship game.

Nova's win was great for the new BE, but that final 4 established the BE as a real powerhouse conference.

That was the birth, this was the resurrection. In this vulture like climate, this means more IMO. It certainly will give us the much needed respect and sustainability as the Big 10 and ACC try to invade this city when conference championship wknd happens over the next two years.

I'm not sure we can call it a "resurrection," until we see sustained success from the conference as a whole.  Maybe, this could catapult the conference or just be a blip and random occurrence.  Time will tell.

1985 was greater although I love the "birth and resurrection" analogy.
Few people remember BC's role in that NCAA tourney. But for a ball bouncing off a point guards knee with a minute left to go it would have been "Vatican Four".    I forgot the guard, possibly Adams, erred with little to go and the lead over Memphis State, a team they outplayed throughout the game. But for that moment the 1985 Championship would never be considered anything less that the Big East "do you believe in miracles?".
Perhaps someone will match 3 teams but The ACC couldn't do it with 5 teams in the final 8.   Ours is the the equivalent of the 56 game hitting streak of DiMaggio or Heiden's 6 or7 golds in Lake Placid in 1980

19M distributed amongst the conference on a weighted, incentive based scale:

So how much do we owe?

LOL Celtics11 on fire lately.

This was definitely the biggest win for the conference IMO.  There hasn't been a non-football champ since Nova won the last time in 1985.  That's freaking nuts.  There have only been a handful of non-football Final Four teams the last twenty years as well.  It didn't even seem possible a few years ago.

Brunson and Bridges gave them the athletic ability they so sorely lacked last season.  The rebounding was incredible and their defense was as good as it gets.  Very impressive.
