One year for a player who at his best sounds like Justin Burrell.   
He would obviously help, but it's not like we're going to the sweet 16 next season.
It isn't worth recruiting a guy who hit a cop.  There are other power forwards out there who are more deserving of the privilege to play basketball at sju. 

I'm not saying we should or should not recruit Livingston. But IMO next year is an important year that will shape the future. I think if we have a real bad year , people may start questioning Mullins coaching ability and SJBBs future. On the other hand if we improve, that will open the door for future quality recruits.

I am fine adding Justin Burrell . After last season I will take sadam Husain's son if he can rebound and play defense.

I would take him too if he can ball, and also if he wasn't in 500 different pieces.

I agree. It's time to win. We wouldn't be the only program in the country taking on a kid with one bad incident in his past. The supposed blue bloods of college basketball have done far worse but nobody cares because they win.

Livingston is a really good player. He would be the perfect complement to Yakwe and Sima as his presence would allow them to be more aggressive in going for blocks because he knows how to rebound. He also has a back to the basket game that those two are still developing

I just think the kid helps us win and is relatively little risk since he'd only be here for a year. Aside from that incident (which is a pretty bad one for sure) he doesn't have any history of transgressions within the basketball world, and his coach had pretty high praise for him as a person after the cop incident

We want good players. How the hell do we know what happened or didn't happen with this kid off the court?

Are you making assumptions about his judgement for being on time and willing to learn in practice?   Or, were those actually questions about those possibilities?

I would venture to say Matt A and Mullin don't care what we have to say about the kid. If they vet him and are satisfied then that's enough for me. People who make horrible mistakes aren't all bad people. They staff is checking into his background very deeply trust me and if they are good with bringing him in then so am I.

I don't think fans here are really able to make judgement of the risk of recruiting this kid.  Staff probably has a lot more insight on this case than any of us.  Let's let the staff make the judgement.

You sound as if he punched out a priest.  Not all cops are saints.  We don't know what happened...at least I don't

Present tally by posters for Livingston to punch- 3 priests, 2 cops and a few fans. Now if we can just get him to punch a few presidential candidates I think we will have a definite take on our hands.

Nobody knows why he punched the cop has anybody heard the full story.

Maybe it was self defense or sticking up for somebody in his family he didn't get suspended from the team or was he put on probation by the law.

From one article I found online when his name first surfaced (and can't seem to re-find), the news story noted that it started at a mental facility at a hospital.

  Livingston was at a hospital before anything transpired.  I have no confirmation if he was there for his own health or that of another, but if there for himself, there could be a medical condition that might have sparked an escalation.  Medical problem / lack of medication might be in play, which could make it somewhat more tolerable.   

if staff signs him, let's just hope not court date during season if it gets to that point that wastes a scholarship.

even if the scholi is wasted, it is only for next year. Worst case scenario we will have an open scholi for 17.
