Your favorite poster Marillac is a not-too-distant relative of Kennedy
Short of the Borgias and the Tudors you would be hard pressed to find a family less corrosive to the public good than your relatives.
Ted for all his faults, became the most influential of the brood. I interned for him on the hill. Watching him rail for hours on the senate floor for a higher minimum wage or health care (chip was being debated at the time) was actually breathtaking. He had real passion for working class issues, but was more than a preacher. He could find common ground and legislate on issues like immigration that balanced border concerns of reps with humanitarian issues and the needs of the business community. That dual ability to advocate for your principals, but be able to find the best deal acceptable to all parties in the here and now ... that is so sorely lacking.
He of course had his faults. But was one of the most overlooked lawmakers of the last 50 years.
