Per Zach B

Told the visits with transfers Justin Simon and Marvin Clark Jr. went very well. Commitments could be coming in next few days. #sjubb

Why wouldn't they? We are going to have a very deep roster, with nice players on the bench.

Believe Matt is the lead on both but I'm sure the entire staff played a role in sealing the deal.

Even with both sitting, I think these are good pickups.  Will give us two relatively experienced, talented, older players to join the fold next year.  Allows the staff to zero in on a smaller field for the remainder of the 2017 class.  And I think both Simon and Clark will be as if not more talented than freshman we could pull in for the 2017 class, and more likely to contribute meaningful minutes right away.

Even with them burning two schollies this year, I think we will be ok from a depth perspective.  4 guards in Lovett, Ponds, Mussini and Ellison.  Freudenberg, Ahmed as wings/forwards (with Ellison being able to play the 3 at times).  Yawke, Sima, Owens and perhaps a transfer big (Livington?).  Will be able to play 10 and a variety of different looks depending on the opponent.

As Louie would say--Don't talk about this; you'll put the horns on the deal.  Speak of this when the fat lady sings ;)

Great news. We are going to have a lot of talent and experience on that 2017-18 squad. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the squad grow this season.

Very excited for both these kids.  Getting that second opportunity with a program that see's their value is going to be great for these kids.  Looking forward to seeing this roster in full in the 17 season.  With the roster now the way it is, A one and done player should not be out of the question for recruiting to round out 17 class.  Lots of talent to play with and could be the type of talent we need to make that jump even bigger.

Simon is one thing sadly Clark may be another, It appears Clark has had recurring foot problems.

Will trust the staff on this one. Clark doesnt have to be a star, he will be a bench player most likely.

I don't think they would be using up a ship on him if they weren't expecting at least 20 minutes from him and lots of rebounds and defensive play.

My msu boosters days this:
I wouldn't call it recurring.  one surgery his freshman year. Slow to heal, lost opportunity to shine because others came in and took advantage.

.. this is what I believe is the status of his injuries from online reading.

Right Foot - fractured bone before senior year in HS

Left Foot
- stress reaction (not full stress fracture - per Izzo );  screw put in - occurred during pre-season of soph year this past season

Unequivocally Michigan state fans don't want to see him go.  Many thought he could be all-league type as upperclassmen but they have a lot of talent there.  He shot over 50% from the field, 42% from 3, and 70+% from the line in 9 minutes per game.  His percentages are good so there aren't any issue with that.  In addition, he wasn't injured for most of this year, only beginning.  I think we are gonna like him here.  Big, strong athlete with range and plenty of time to put in work and be healthy for game time.

I have been critical of the staff. But they did an amazing job recruiting. Let's win some games now!
