Simon is just as athletic as Rysheed Jordan and maybe a bit longer/taller. Super nice kid with absolutely no ego. Got to know him very well in high school and was one of my favorite kids to have in the gym.

Can get in the lane and knows how to finish. If anything I wish he'd be more aggressive because he can take over. He's going to be a great addition next to LoVett, Ponds, Mussini, Ellison, and Ahmed. I'm loving the versatility of all the guards and all are unselfish guys too.

If the guys in the know on this board and Redmen are correct, our roster is basically set for the next two years.

Next year's team will have freshmen Ponds, Freudenberg, and redshirt freshman Lovett. The sophomores are Mussini, Ellison, Yakwe, Sima, and redshirt sophomore Owens. The juniors are JUCO transfer Ahmed and (if healthy) redshirt junior Williams.  There are no seniors, although grad transfer Livingston will visit on April 28th and his recruitment is said to be almost a done deal.  We are supposedly days away from adding Clark (2 years eligibility remaining) and Simon (3 years) who would have to sit next season and be added to the playing mix in 2017.

If all this happens, barring any transfers out, we would be at least 12 deep for the 2017 season, with one scholarship remaining, and competition for playing time will be fierce.  As the team improves, and there is less available open playing time, it becomes harder, not easier, to recruit for 2017. It would take a truly high impact program changing freshman to be guaranteed any significant playing time given our loaded roster.

Of course, most teams settle into an 8 or 9 man rotation, so, invariably, players are going to be left our.  Do next year's end of the bench guys transfer out, or do they stay to work hard, improve, and push for more minutes? Does anyone leave to play pro in Europe or to attempt to go pro here? There's so much player movement in college ball today that it's hard to say that everybody stays until graduation.

What is apparent, especially if the staff adds Simon and Clark, is that we are making a stand with the talent we have and that recruitment after this year has to be done very judiciously, with an eye towards filling specific team needs and balancing classes going forward.

I like it too Dave.  Simon has really long arms and gets past people with ease.  Excellent athlete and I think will be upper level Big East big guard that people were looking for.  Both Lovett and Ponds are guys with absolutely enough skills to play both guard spots.  Lovett more inclined to Pg with his passing, but he's also a big scorer.  i think Bashir's defense is understated.  This is a big kid at forward that can move laterally and gets after it.  Add Clark and our roster is amazingly balanced after only 2-3 years, at many spots.  Exciting times ahead...  We will be young and a bit raw still, but really coming together.

By 2017, it appears that our talent level will be exponentially better than last year's team. In the Big East especially, we will no longer be taking a knife to a gunfight.

Not even close.  we will have a lot of legit D1 layers by that point.  Night and day..
