Sima & Mussini

Both are gonna skip out on playing for their national teams and stay on campus to continue strength and conditioning program. I think this is a major plus for the program.

Agree. This certainly shows an admirable level of commitment to St. John's.  It's not easy for a kid to turn down an invite to play for his country.

Throughout the darkest days of last season's debacle on the court, there was never any infighting on the team or guys blaming one another.  It's a testament to the character of the kids that CM and staff have brought on that they hung together last season and that they have bought into the coaching staff's vision of the future.

Maybe this news will get Poison off Mussini's back for a while but probably only if his weight room numbers beat out all prospective draft picks at the NFL combine except maybe for the linemen.  :)

It certainly does. Both guys have to really hit the weight room.

I think this helps keep everybody focused.

And while I know that opportunities to practice are limited ... I expect that we'll see a more complete vision of the offense Mullin/St Jean want to run.
A lot of the pieces will have had a full year in the system:
Sima, Mussini, Ellison, Yakwe .. and Lovett Williams and Owens have been practicing.
Just a matter of incorporating Ponds and Ahmed, and to a lesser extent Freudberg.
The guys should be able to make quicker decisions with the ball.

Terrific news.  Agree that it says a lot about these kids too, as there is obviously allure to playing for their national teams, and I'm sure there was some pressure exerted for them to do so.

What has Williams been practicing? Sitting?

I get the feeling if Williams doesn't recover physically, his scholy won't be renewed opening up another one for 17.

These guys are great kids and great teammates. This is big for development and makes me root for these kids even more. The results weren't what we wanted in year one but the kids we have brought in and the sense of comoradory and team first attitude among the players seems to be very strong. Huge credit to the kids and the staff on that.

I wonder how many of our newcomers will be in summer school.

Would hope Ahmed and Ponds are both there. Sima and FM both played in Euro Tourneys last year, wonder if Freud will do the same. Think both transfers would be in as well.

Do we have someone to coach up the bigs? Zendon?  We need Sima to work on his footwork and touch around the rim. Needs to get away from flinging it at the rim without purpose

Zendon can teach him how to pass out of the double team.

Maybe we can get Glover and Z to both work on that pass out of the double/triple team thing. ;) :)

Ty Grant could teach him some interior moves. He could teach all of them some interior moves.
