Over/under 12 total wins next season
« on: June 09, 2016, 11:59:07 AM »
I would think that's a fair # with all the newcomers and the majority of minutes they will get. 2017-18 has to be the big jump

Over, and by several wins.  I agree though it will take time for all the talent to gel.

Definitely Over.  This total is low Baldi, cmon.  I think O/U 14.5 is a much better discussion.

I think we win 15 but 12 is not a ridiculous starting point.

Agreed that 15 is a better number. 12 ill take over big time. Besides Atlantis we aren't exactly playing a monster non conference. If we win 12 or less I would be pretty shocked.

For those saying 15 wins.

Who are the in conference wins coming against?

Who are the in conference wins coming against?

We'll take one or both from DePaul, then we'll be absolutely no less than 40-45% chance in the home games against the other BE teams not named Villanova or Xavier. We'd also have a realistic chance to steal 1 or 2 non-DePaul road games.

The 11-12 team won 13 games against a tougher schedule, and that team was worse than the team we'll have next year. Good thing you don't set lines in Vegas or they'd be broke.

Tha Kid is right. 14.5 is probably what the actual line would be.

So you're guaranteeing 1 win against DePaul.  Where are the 14 others?

We got killed a few games that season. We also beat some good teams and played some other very good teams close. Our conference is much easier now. We also have much more depth . I am hopeful next year is better then that year. If not something is wrong.

To guarantee myself at least a push on your line of 12, I'd only need 11 more wins.

LIU, Nicholls St, Longwood, Binghamton, Delaware St, Bethune Cookman are pretty much locks. @ Tulane is not a lock but we should definitely win that game.

@ Minnesota is very winnable and we'd have a good chance to beat LSU or Old Dom if we drew them in Atlantis. Lets account for one win between Minnesota and Atlantis, which I think is fair.

That leaves us having to go 3-14 in the conference games that aren't home vs DePaul just to get to 12.

Let's assume we get swept by Villanova, Xavier and Creighton, which is also fair.

The other home games are Butler, Gtown, SHU, Providence, and Marquette. Winning 3 of those 5 games is fair. That would make us 4-5 in conference at home for the season (fair), putting us at 13 wins already before we even get to the road games.

Then we have @ DePaul which we would probably be a pickem game. We can also steal 1 or 2 other road games of the 5 teams listed above putting us right around 14 or 15 wins.

12 wins seems like a very low number, especially with our pre-conference schedule of cupcakes.  (Seems designed to get us to .500 and a shot at the NIT. )

Aren't we supposed to be incrementally better now that we have legit point guards, a year's experience for our four freshmen,  and more talented players replacing those that left?

Hypothetically, I think that last year's team (with an extra year's experience and development for everyone on that roster) would have a good shot at 12 wins given this year's pre-conference schedule.

But thank God we don't have to watch them try to do it.

We haven't even seen the schedule and we are supposed to be picking certain games we are going to win? This isn't the old big east. We will have a chance to win every with The exception of Nova and possibly Xavier. No other team the conference is that stacked that we can't beat them.

The bottom of the conference is a disaster with DePaul, Marquette, and Providence.  Third place is wide open after Nova and Xavier.

Creighton is the clear 3rd place team. Then it's wide open

Agree. But I can't take the over. Hoping Mullin proves me wrong. It would be fun to have a season.
