interesting pick up who could make for a "feel good" story if he turns it around.  I agree on schooling for his senior year[[would be good if he could get away from Miami.  How about IMG in Florida or Our Saviours Lutheran on LI?

This

Lavin was forced to give Rysheed 8 million chances because they had no depth or talent behind him.  Won't be the same at all now.  Easier to take a chance on a guy when you aren't putting all your eggs in one basket.

Yup 100%

He lasted a month at a prep school in Connecticut. IMG is in Bradenton--which is an awful area.  His best bet seems to be staying close to his guardian.

I'm really happy for him. With Zach Brown our starting lineup for 2017-2018 is really good.

C - Zach Brown
PF- Kassoum yakwe
SF- Justin Simon
PG- Shamorie Ponds/ Marcus lovett
SG - Bashir Ahmed

IDK if a freshman starts over a junior. That would mean that Sima has regressed. Hopefully that's not the case. I'm hoping to see Brown start off like Shawnelle Scott. A valuable part of the team, but the upperclassmen are the key contributors.

What specifically is everything?

What isn't?

I personally have no problem with this and would welcome Pol Pot if he could hit the three. With that being said if I were to bet I would bet he never actually plays a game for us. When has something like this ever broken right for ST John's?

Lovett, Sampson, Yakwe - it took a little while, but they all played

Those guys had much less issues than Brown. Again I am not against just seems like too much has to break right for him to actually be able to play

Understood.  Though it's still a good, calculated gamble in my opinion.  With Sima and Owens, the team can afford to bet that this young man is genuine and makes a great effort to do right by himself.

One key for Brown is where he spends his next year. Being close to a support system seems critical.

Agreed even if he never plays here just not going to get excited until he actually is on the bench in a uniform. But by this point I wouldn't be shocked if Lovett never plays for us

Shocked Admin  was ok with this but not the Taser?

I say 50% chance that he ever winds up in Queens but this is exactly the kind of 1st round talent that you gamble on.  Remember in the past we didn't have Matt - plans B and C are already in the works.  No need to worry.

Zach could be a great get.  I'm disturbed by the story that he's back with his mother.  She has issues that need to be worked out.  It also puts him around others with issues.  He needs to be with his guardian on the "good" side of town.

I think it's a real good gamble.  Kid seems to admit his mistakes and wants to get past them.  I'm all for it, and he could be excellent if he keeps it together.

Yeah I bet it's a combination of him being younger and more apt to change/growth and the fact that he had a whole year to put these issues behind him and prove he can hang. Still plenty of time to not let him come.

Don't forget he didn't punch a cop.

The administration would have never been okay with Brown if he punch a police officer.
