its almost funny to think about
« on: July 15, 2008, 02:07:35 AM »
this is all wishful thinking but since its the offseason and theres no breaking news at the moment, i thought id bring this up...i think we all consider the program as being pretty sad right now but i was thinking today, lets say we get omari...omari "opens the floodgates" so to speak and now lance says what the hell, ill stay home too...which means in 2 years we have a pretty solid team assuming theres some improvement with the other guys...so now we have a few solid years of recruiting, nyc pipeline is pretty much back...then maybe we have a decent year this year, mason has a great year, goes 2nd round in the draft...now we have a recent pro...and all of a sudden we have everything a major program should have, players going pro, good recruiting classes, respectable record, tv exposure...of course this is all a few ticks short of a christmas tv special, but its an example of something that you have to admit could happen, no matter how small the possibly, if one good thing starts to snowball

I like the wishful thinking... but I'll hold my optimism until one of those many things happens

I don't know about funny...but quick turnarounds are definitely possible in college basketball.

those other guys have to improve first, though.  and the basketball team needs some stability, as well.  thing is, if the staff gets the squad to play defense like the team did in 06, minimizes the blowouts, and has an offense that looks like the guys on the court had met previous to the game, a quick turnaround could happen.  for now, though, i'll hold my optimism as well.

Look at Baylor's Mens program. Turnarounds are possible. First we have to win. Give kids a reason to want to take that chance.

what did baylor win?  this program will ALWAYS be mediocre as long as the current cabal is in place.

you don't expect a "c" student in biology to come up with a cure for cancer...don't expect a "c" student coach to do anything.  he's trying, but he can't.

Nothing but they sure have turned things around rather quickly.
