Sima was a liability last year in the BE. I mean, everyone was, but he has a long way to go before he deserves to start. If he's able to defend his position, move faster and think faster offensively he should start, but Yakwe was leagues better than him when he filled in at center last year.

Barring a 3 guard lineup, this is the first news of what we have been speculating all offseason- Moose now coming off the bench.

All Freshmen backcourt = lowered expectations

You're not keeping Ponds off the court for too long. I'd expect him to be the best backcourt defender from day one. The kid will average 2+ steals a game over his career.

It is a freshman backcourt, and it's reasonable to expect some growing pains this year mixed in with clear signs of a promising future. That said, LoVett isn't a freshman in the same sense that Ponds is. He's had a year in the weight room, practicing with the team and being coached by Mullin and his staff. We know that's not the same as game experience, but it makes a difference.

All Freshmen backcourt = lowered expectations

True, all Freshman backcourt is a recipe for problems. Unfortunately, we didn't get a nice transfer PG to take some minutes/pressure off Lovett/Ponds. Moose and Ellison are a year older, but sophomores nonetheless. Hopefully with the further development of in-game coaching, the backcourt will play beyond its expectations in Big East play.

I think you're see Ponds start at the 2 for the next 4 years. Simon comes off the pine.

Lovett is going to be one nasty s.o.b. He's one of those talents that will only be limited by himself. I don't see a PG or even combo when I look at Simon. I see a SG that can't shoot very well that is probably best suited for an attacking wing role.

The verdict on Mullin's coaching will be determined on whether we make the tourney that year. Theres no question he can recruit.  The big question is can he coach and bring the team together?  If he can, itll be all puppies and rainbows for the foreseable future!

Its also Bash's last year in the program, so Id like to see him do some damage.

What happens if St Johns doesn't get the invite in 17-18?

Can't rule anything out for this year in either direction. I have no expectations but would not be shocked if this team danced.
