Shamorie Ponds, a four-star freshman right out of New York City, will fill it up for a Johnnies team that has plenty of room to grow from last season's poor start in Chris Mullin's first year. Expect another shot-block fest for St. John's, as Kassoum Yakwe and Yankuba Sima will be a joy to watch.

I'd rather not see any added pressure put on our new players, so while this isn't the least bit hopeful, it's not going to hurt us to be a pleasant surprise. Bashir Ahmed is going to go from games in front of 600 people to games in front of 15,000 + screaming people. It's better that they find out who he is when he's grabbing an offensive rebound in the Carrior Dome and throwing it down on Tyler Lydon.

Haven't seen us picked higher than 8th anywhere. Why does picking us 10th mean that the evaluator isn't highly knowledgeable?

I think 8th is realistic, after the top 20 a 25 teams, it all becomes subjective.

I ageee. I just think that we shouldn't expect to be respected after the season we had. We are asking analysts to be as excited as we are with sleeper recruits like Ahmed and Freudenberg.

I'd rather they rank us as low as possible.  That creates a mug bigger story and buzz if and when we start beating teams and taking off. 

I see 4th as an unlikely but possible upside.....no lower than 7th.  Team is deep, particularly at guard....good size and enough scoring.  Experience is a problem but by midseason team should jell.  Play of Freud and Bashir will be the key  along with defensive rebounding

Exactly. We are usually overrated. It's a story when finally we are underrated.
