Didn't they just refurbish the arena?
May have swept it out, dusted a little, and changed a light bulb or two.

The new scoreboards are pretty nice.

I just don't see how they can ever truly renovate CA in a meaningful way.   There's no room to expand behind the two baskets.  You can't create a bowl.

Totally gut the place where all sports would have to play somewhere else for a year. What Texas A&M did was build half the stadium over two years. Their original plan was to play in Houston for two years, but the hotels in College Station said that the plan would bankrupt them.

SJU has to figure out is it worth it.  5$3 ultimate goal is probably become great and play more game at MSG. It would seem like a waste of money to dump hundreds of millions of dollars to an arena that the goal is to play less games there....If the AD came raise donations and has the money, Make it rain!

Why upgrade the arena? We play our big games at garden. Some seat backs would be nice. It would also be nice to have beer. No reason to put money into alumni hall.

It isn't like CA is sold out and really needs to expand. Guess the question is: do people not come to games because the fan experience at CA isn't worth it?

Beer would be good, but I think a good amount of colleges don't sell beer at on campus events, even football games some places.

Loved his attitude wants to make SJU a special place

Make ST John's Great Again Anton

At least make it like Syracuse. 20 thousand seats minimum.

Believe it is NCAA rule--Colorado is the exception because of Coors

Rumor re the Islanders is a new arena by Citifield--that might be an answer and since off campus, they could sell beer like MSG.

Villanova breaking ground on a whole new athletics/basketball complex. Alums got together after the Championship and were able to raise $250 million needed to get started. But will remain a smaller capacity, on campus facility. DePaul has a new stadium but its off campus.

We put money into CA and Taffner, Mr. Goff said he will tour the Big East schools and compare their facilities to ours. He sounds great, nice background. Wish Anton Goff all the best!

Because we seem to be playing more and more meaningful games there. Is asking for a little comfort for these games out of line ?

CA at full capacity in a meaningful game is a hostile environment that absolutely rocks. It's imposing and uncomfortable, I love it. I'm completely fine with this as a secondary on-campus arena. Goff's first assignment should be to convert the entire color scheme and logo to navy blue/old school lettering replacing the rest of the antiquated black/red STJ logos. Mixing the two right now isn't working. Repaint the court, let the old guys have their chair backs and give the students two additional sections within the lower bowl next to the band and behind the opponents bench.

Not sure if it makes sense. However, would it be possible to turn Belson stadium into an indoor stadium where they can play both soccer and basketball?

More chairbacks will diminish capacity even further from 6008.

And then we could change the name back to the Bluemen.

2005-2014 the brand was red/black block lettering, 2015-beyond the brand is red/blue old school lettering. Choose a design, font, color pattern and stick to it. Don't mesh the two, it looks like the transition is happening but not quick enough. Having two different fonts and color schemes mixing and matching confuses the consumer. Not having a AD for a year can slow down a brand design overhaul, especially with the apparel vendors, I get it, but atleast put the 20K together to repaint your court to match your new look.

They have a tribe to sponsee them.
But.....
Maybe SJU can change the name to Redpeople so females would not be excluded. Redmen leaves a gender out, which prevents inclusiveness.

The PC Police definitely won't let any institution that currently doesn't have a perceived offensive name to add one. And based on what I heard about what was happening on campus last Tuesday night and Wednesday, the school won't be moving away from PC anytime soon either
