Game 8: Tulane

If our big men didn't bother to develop a post move, maybe someone can team them to pass the so they don't ruin it for the rest of the team. Ahmed at the 4 is a band-aid. Yakwe needs to get his shot together. He was so promising last year. This year, he's worse than Donald Emanuel as a freshman. What the hell did he do all summer other than not work on his game? He doesn't look like a D1 player anymore.

Loved the offensive strategy this game. Everyone was moving on offense, didn't force things for the most part and got open looks. Outside shooting is this team's strength so good to see them embrace that (much like nova had over the past several years). Almost looked like some form of a system on offense. Best part was that they didn't get away from it -- the key is if they can have that level of commitment when behind and not revert to hero ball (bad long twos and out of control drives to the hoop).
Still need work on defense. Guys get out of possession way too often. Watching 3 guys bite on a pump fake is hard to take. The hustle is there but so undisciplined

The staff needs to teach the bigs. So far, it looks like they were better before they got here.

Fun game to watch for the first time since maybe the first game of the season. I agree with basically everyone here that the big men have been awful. I think Owens has been the best of the group. He has blocked shots, grabbed some boards and can also hit a jumper at a decent rate unlike the other two. A lineup of 4 guards and Owens might be our best crunch time lineup. Sima has been actually tough to watch out there. Sima has the size and a decent stroke but someone needs to be working with him everyday after practice to work on his hands and footwork.

If you're bashing RF based on last night, you are nuts. He missed some shots but he showed good hands, superior vision and passing for a big guy, and he moved well on both sides of the ball.

He's clearly the answer to our woes at PF once he catches up to the speed and physicality of the game. He's going to be trouble for other teams in the pick-and-roll.

Since I predicted a loss for our guys...I'll reward you with an all time great piece, New Orleans.

The bigs have to improve there scoring but they still lead the Big East in block shots
Also they are the second youngest team in Division one basketball
Maybe they cant beat Iona yet but it was a big improvement

Every time I see Amar out on the floor I feel like he is just photo bombing the team. Right now he is more of a detriment. He needs to be reigned in and told to play more within himself and restrict his 3 point shot attempts as we cannot afford the damage to the backboards both game wise and financially. Though the  airball ones do serve to make it a little cooler in Carnesecca from the breeze they create.

Is mussini part of that core 4? I tend to think the play of Ellison will be more important to the team than Mussini, as far as making that tournament jump.

Yes, Mussini in. Undoubtedly the better player IMO.

Mussini can hit the open shot . He must be guarded and that will take pressure off Ponds and Lovett. Don't want Lovett double teamed. Re, Bash he is bigger than Dom and we all saw how Dom was playing the 4. Our bigs look so lost offensively need Bash at the 4 .IMO and I don't think that  is a band aid.

Always better to win. Cool arena. We would love to have it. Seat backs and beer. And it was cool in there. The team looks great when they are hitting their 3's. Little to no movement on offense. We got shots and hit shots. I hate the offense but I do like when it goes in. We easily could have scored 100. Tulane was pretty bad. 3-5 is much better then 2-6. We dominated a bad team . We have to do that a few more times before Syracuse.

If the choice is play Bash at the 4 or Sima and Yakwe at the same time, I'll take Bash at the 4.
