We need to stop candy coating this. THIS is an embarrassment to our program.  I do not see us beating Penn State or even taking 1 from DePaul if this is the effort that is given.

You guys sound like a bunch of pu$$ies...let the season play out.
I expected a winning season in mullins 2nd year. We have the talent to do it. 5-6 is horrendous. But lets see what this team is made of with conference play coming.

What can realistically happen at this point that would make this season a success? I know full well we have been a really mediocre for a really long time now, but if we aren't going to freak out after losses to Delaware State and LIU when we obviously have more talent than both combined, we might as well just move to the MAAC or NEC

Realistically stop the panic. Yes we lost to the crap schools, but hung well with MSU ODU MINN... This team has not been blown out all year...And we,played some good teams and competed well. I honestly think we compete well with the BE.

It's bad but I wouldn't call it embarrassing. Incarnate Word was embarrassing.

Overall this season has been disappointing. Team is better than what they're showing.

It's ugly right now but let's see if it gets any better. The defense really let us down today. They didn't get any stops and let LIU control momentum for almost the entire game. Also some coaching decisions in the closing minutes left a lot to be desired.
Not going to get better. Now we play real teams. We are going to play against real coaches, real athletes, and real defense.

Oh now we play real teams?

Happy to know every team we've played so far is fake.
No most of them sucked

Other than Delaware St and LIU who did we lose to that we should have beat?
Old dominion sucks. VCU isn't great. Minnesota isn't good. Losing to some is fine. They are decent teams. But losing to all is terrible.

Minnesota probably better than we thought. 10-1 right now.

VCU is senior laden team that will probably be dancing in March. As might ODU in Conference USA.

All said. St. John's could have beaten all 3 and maybe should have too.

The disappointing thing in all these losses is lack of intensity, adjustments, and lineups/decisions down stretch.

There are offensive/defensive sub opportunities, can switch up defense, run something for your playmakers to get shots. I think this is where the lack of experience on coaching staff really hurts. I think the bench coaches St. Jean and Richmond are terrific basketball minds but it's hard to tap this/that when you haven't been through it on the pine. Like Mike Tyson said everyone has a plan till they get punched in the face.

An experienced coach is better equipped to handle a lead/deficit, knows when to switch up a defense, how to handle a slumping player, and has a play for a number of different scenarios a game can throw at you.

Than why is Mullin the only one who doesn't see this? Too stubborn, arrogant or both?

Without boheim Syracuse lost to us. With him that same crappy team went to the final four.
Head coach is huge. If boheim didn't coach last season that Syracuse team doesn't make the NIT. We are going to suck like Oliver purnel teams until we make a change.

Delaware State was far more embarrassing than Incarnate Word considering we actually had no talent last year. Delaware State is one of the 10 worst teams in D1

Agreed and that can be fixed.  I'm not mad but a disappointed.

All I want to hear from Coach is that this is on him, he knows it and he will fix it.  He's not going anywhere so it is useless to discuss nonsense like that.

POS program.

Agree.  I watched football during the second half.  It's not even a big deal when I miss games.
Uh oh. When you fall off the bandwagon...not good

I'm starting to wonder if Mullin is intentionally not making some of these changes, really trying to get everyone to somewhat master his desired program and then start to mix in new schemes.

I agree that our offense is pretty good and that the defense is really holding us back. That being said, I still fully expect things to click at some point over the next month or so and turn in a borderline NIT season.

NIT? At this point, I don't see us beating DePaul

It's called in-game coaching and the Johnnies are sorely lacking it. I agree and hopefully the staff learns to incorporates some of these adjustments rather quickly.

Yeah Ellison is pretty predictable much of the time when he dishes off on his drives. Ahmed is going to get a good amount of charges called on him in BE play if he's not more careful and under control on his drives. On defense they need to get in better position to take offensive fouls.

If our big men provided anything, Ahmed's contribution would be fine. He has nice shooting form and when he doesn't force shots, he is good.

Unfortunately, given limited production, we need him to be able to get to the rim more effectively - and he doesn't seem to be able to without having to force an out of control, off balance shot.
