When a team plays poorly, U don't blame the assistants! We don't need Mike Dunlap . We need a head basketball coach!

FIRE MITCH RICHMOND ring any bells?

Its a disgrace we have a guy like Baldi posting  on this website he is more happy when they SJU lose then when they win.

Stick to rooting for Iona - and let people that care about SJU post on this site.
All you Baldi lovers how can you love his post he rather see them lose than win so9 he can post something negative
When they win you never post anything but when they lose you are the first one on the board posting something negative.
They have been disappointing so far but at least Ellison played great and is improving along with Owens.
If they can just get a couple of tough guys inside they will be alright.
Marcus first game back was a little rusty.
Give Chris a chance this year and all of next year before you give up on him.
Why Baldi - do you use a SJU player name when you never post anything positive

Bring back Norm Roberts.

He'll be dancing

Most of you especially you in particular have no credibility when it comes to SJU.  You wanted Roberts gone and he is gone, you wanted Lavin gone and he is gone.  You touted the Mullin hire and and took shots at Lavin and others as he left.

Now you want Mullin gone.  Mind you this is no defense of these recent games, it has been disastrous.   But most of you can't be taken seriously because you are great at spending other people's money.

This would stop if we actually hired a competent coach just one time.

Why is it that the last 3 coaches we've had ended their coaching careers at St. John's with lower value than they had coming in? Jarvis went to Florida Atlantic after SJU and petered out there and is now off the coaching map completely. Norm went back to being an Assistant and is not really a head coaching candidate anywhere. Lavin is back in the studio and probably won't have a head coaching job ever again.

Contrast that with the good programs in the Big East. Butler's last head coach is now coaching the Boston Celtics. Xavier's last head coach took a step up to Arizona. Villanova's current coach could probably get any NBA job if he wants it.

Hell, even our women's team had a coach take a step up at the end of her run here, which is something the men's program has never experienced in my lifetime. I understand where we stand in the college landscape. If we had a coach leave us after 5 years to go somewhere bigger and better, that would be the best thing to happen to this program in 20 years. But since we can't hire one competent coach ever we never will experience that

You weren't alive when Mahoney took over?  Are you 12?

I was younger than 5 years old when Mahoney took over. Was pretty oblivious to SJU basketball at that time

That's particularly my issue with a handful here, but mainly my issue with many at Redmen.

Effing clowns made it personal with Lavin, Obekpa, and Jordan.  They acted as if their lives would change, based on what Lavin, Obekpa, and Jordan was doing (or, not doing).

Mullin may actually turn things around, but my gut tells me this probably won't end well.  If not, several will be getting their dose of karma, based on how they made things personal against those mentioned.  They should've kept it on the court and sidelines where it belong.

Man think about how quickly this went south.  They were 2-0 and up 22-9 on Minnesota on the road.

And now poof...

All on Coach now...

Joe Lapchick 68

Joe Paterno 60

Last time we will be .500 rest of season
my game prediction was embarrassingly wrong. My last prediction sadly is almost true

Had to go out so turned it off at SJU 24 Penn St 17. How did the rest of the game go? Do the terms dumpster fire and cluster buck ring a bell?

Lavin deserved all the criticism he recieved and probably more.  He quit on the program and generally made a mockery of the job responsibilities.

With the players I never felt like there was undue animosity.  I wanted them both to succeed after they left here.  As a rule I don't like bashing players on their way out.
But, if things with Jordan and CO became "personal" it's probably because it was their personal failings, and not performance on the court, that let the team down and led to their exodus.  There was no point in criticizing their play, that wasn't the issue with either of them.  Although neither had a complete game, how many players do?

Also, Mullin wasn't a lot of people's first choice.  But now that he's here I'm hoping he can turn it around.
Lavin wasn't the answer, but that doesn't mean Mullin has to be.  Life will go on and the program will trudge along.  Eventually maybe we will find the right recipe.

Sheppy -  just ignore him .. The fact you make it so obvious he gets under your skin just empowers his schtick... Most of us have been around long enough to know the deal.   Probably most of what you wrote is true... Why feed into it..

He does it every year , not matter the coach.. It's funny to me at this point...

Watch....next , the " I hear so and so is leaving"...    Lol... Like clockwork..

Or you can do what a lot of people have done, and just not really pay attention to the site very much anymore... I agree..it's become brutal...and it's not only Baldi...

Personal is personal.  There is no need to get personal with folks you don't have any, daily interactions.  I already know you're petty, and, truthfully, I knew you'd respond to my post.

Leave it to what they do the floor and sidelines.

I don't disagree with what you are saying Boo.  I like baldi.  But it's clear he enjoys getting under people's skin.  As you said, it's part of his shtick.

Another thing that happens like clockwork is the message boards turn ugly when the team is at its worst.
The bickering and fights, and taking sides, and posters getting banned only happens when we stink.
Everyone's mood improves after a 2 game win streak.

I was agreeing with you Dinkins, I don't approve of people getting personal with the players either.
But I was providing some possible explanation for why various posters took out frustration on Obekpa and Jordan.  It was their personal failings that let them team down.  Not missing a shot or lazy defense.
You can't say keep it on the court when those two did numerous things off the court to hinder the team... they missed practices and refused to go into games.  That makes it personal for many fans.  I'm sorry you can't understand that.
