I know this is my first post in a while, and I probably shouldn't. But we fired a coach that brought us three 20 win seasons in 5 years, for this. I'm still going to give Mullin another year, but I still stand by my stance that Lavin was the best coach we've had here in a long time. I'd take him back in a heartbeat.
Why limit ourselves to coaches with a connection to St. John's? There is a whole big wide world out there you know, and it's full of other coaches.

It would have to actually get worse for them to fire Chris Mullin. Unfortunately, it can get worse. Firing him would force us to start over, and it would probably push LoVett and Ponds out the door. As bad of a job as he's done, we have to sit here and hope he learns how to coach.

When they hired him they knew full well that this would either make them look like geniuses or complete idiots.

if ponds leaves you can start getting that seat hot so for his sake he'd better hope that doesn't happen

Won't happen.

Now Ponds is leaving? Lets be reasonable here. We are playing awful but Mullin is not being fired or resigning any time soon. The school can't keep firing coaches, Mullin will get a long leash. Also talk of him resigning is pretty foolish. His reputation would be completely ruined, no way that happens in the next couple years. The results have been awful not much else that can be said for now but a coaching change is not coming.

What kills me about this is that we are getting beat for the simple things that can be corrected. Transition defense should be easy to correct.

Hustle and effort

Exactly my point. I bet we shave off an average of 10 points or more that we give up if they played better transition defense.

As Coach Naclerio famously said...It doesn't matter what plays you run if you can't shoot.

After the Penn State debacle, how many points will we lose by in the Carrier Dome tomorrow night?  Tomorrow night could get really, really ugly.

Yup. Penn St  guards lit us up.  Our 5 guards had 5 fouls combined.  Not playing hard enough
