we may have a national statistical leader....Owens may led the nation in fouls and, if there is a fouls per minute statistic, he is a definite.  :crazy2:

He also hustles his off and gets no support from anyone that plays the  3, 4, or 5. He's the last guy that should be knocked. He's a legit piece going forward.

Agreed with this.

I agree, he hustles, I just find his foul totals amusing.....largely due to his weight issue....can we send a pizza to his dorm room? ;D

"These are the times that try men's souls"................mine is "trying" almost a little too hard now. For the second time in 60 years I turned off a StJ game before it was over.   At least Malik had a good game and grew today. It was good to see a small part of Marcus back on the court, and they tried a press for a while and it worked.
I dread what  my feelings will be during Christmas "vacation" after our game at Syracuse; at least we 'got' them the past two years. Can anyone send me a tape?  or a comfort dog, or a coloring book, or maybe some hot chocolate. Where is your Mayor when I need him?

Pathetic. Mullin has to own this.

Malik finally got hot but his shots were, for the most part, not in the offense and poorly selected.  Expect him to miss them next game and be back to normal.  Had 3 TOs and a bundle of offense shattering moments.  Kid has to learn to be selective, move the ball and penetrate intelligently.  Great potential but this is the first time this year he had a good game thanks to a hot hand from 3, an area where he should largely defer to his teammates.

Seriously what do you see that gives you hope?

Our two best players are freshmen. Our top ten players are all first or second year players. We have a top 35 recruit and another physical forward (from top ten programs) redshirting and we have an inexperienced staff.

All true. But that is not the entire story.

This game showed the team can press effectively.  With an 8-9 man rotation, most of whom are quick, we can force some turnovers and take seconds off the clock so there is not as muck pressure on the pathetic half court D.  Until D improves this seems like a good option.

Agreed, it should be decisive.

The same could have been said last year.  We were worse a year ago, and Cuse was a final four team.  They are not nearly that good this year.

Why is our staff so inexperienced when it doesn't have to be? Why the hell are St. Jean and Richmond assistants when we could have two experienced assistants or former head coaches? The Big East is not where you learn how to coach

The inexperience staff is a self inflected wound. I can get a you team playing down to a LIU-Brooklyn team and losing. I don't get getting blown out at the Garden right before Cuse and the BE season. When they lost before it was at least close and you can say that they are learning.

This game it looked like they said F-it...Maybe things will be different at the end of the season, but if not this staff needs a shake up.

I don't enjoy agreeing with Marillac but he is correct on all accounts.

The most disturbing sign today was the poor play of our 3 best players: Ponds Lovett and Ahmed all played out of control and forced things.  Not a good sign.
But as has been mentioned, their careers are just beginning.

I do think it's nearly inexcusable that Mullin didn't take a timeout when we went down 9 after being up 6 in the first half.  By the time he called timeout we were down like 17.
