St John's will host four-star guard Greg Williams on official visit October 27-29. #sjubb

Braziler

Good to be getting a visit, anyone hear anything on chance with Williams

Decent, but certainly not a "lock". I believe Iowa State & a southern high major working on him as well.

Hopefully he wants to leave the south for a bigger city experience.  If we land a kid like this, we would make the loss of Muhammad a relative wash.

An argument can be made that he is a better prospect than Luther. Same height, ESPN ranks them both at a 82 and they are both ranked within the 20's at their position. I really like GWill's leadership qualities and intangibles in the articles that I've read about him.

Hopefully I win Powerball too. All the effort we put into some of these kids only to be told later "he never seriously considered St Johns"? To quote Glen Gary Glen Ross, "get them to sign...on the line...which is dotted" That is really the only thing that matters. The rest is subjectivity.

I understand that too, but our entire starting roster and beyond are generally 4-star players pretty much if not JcAA's etc and even Simon who was a 5-star.  We are landing these kids, if not as often nor as many as the blue bloods.  We are also landing excellent transfers.   We haven't won enough to consistently sell anything to recruits, so our recruiting inconsistency makes total sense.  We certainly have to win to get more consistent.  If Matt A gave up as often as the fans did, we'd definitely be in trouble.

Also, maybe we aren't paying (or paying as well?)

This particular tweet is connected to the Josh Roberts' tweet.  So, I'm guessing the staff is also going to see Williams tomorrow.

Then going to Louisiana to see 2018 Greg Williams.

Nice! Just don't compare him to Luther on Twitter.

I hope you’re right Paultz.  Would be amazing to land a kid that is at same level as LuthwrZ. Maybe a little more offense. Set us up well...  fingers crossed.

Any chance we can get a commitment on this visit? That would be pretty cool.

I never give much credence to the crstal ball nonsense, but do know Andrew Slater is pretty wired to SJU hoops. Fwiw, He picked the Johnnies to land Williams tiday. Stay tuned.

Williams, the 6-foot-4, 205-pound combo guard from Lafayette (LA) Christian Academy, is closing in on a college decision following his most recent official visit to St. John’s for their Midnight Madness event.
Ranked the No. 26 shooting guard in the Class of 2018 by 247Sports.com, Williams also took officials to Tulane and Nevada.

“I’m pretty confident he’s going to sign during the early period,” Greg Williams Sr. said Tuesday by phone. “He likes the choices that he has. A lot of coaches are calling and asking [when he’s going to sign]. They’re hopeful that he doesn’t sign in the early period that they can re-recruit him, but I’m pretty confident he’ll sign in the early period.”

I'm glad staff stayed on Greg. A player I've always liked and more heady of a player than other guards we've gone after. I liked Muhammed's upside more but Greg is more of a baller. Makes plays, clutch, and solid all around. A really good 4 year player who can contribute right away. Need more building blocks like this.

+1 Dave. He also seems to be a high character individual who serves his community off the court and leads his teams on it. Much like Scottie Lewis 2019, Mullin likes top100s kids who see the bigger picture and are somewhat humble. Everything I read about him over the past year seems to fit that mold.
