Have to agree with Baldi... DiVincenzo is very good.   I was very impressed.  He's much more athletic than I realized.

As for us, eh, hard to get too upset about this game.  There was a fair share of ugly play, but I just can't get too upset about a ho hum loss to the #1 team.   We're not in a position to be challenging top 15 teams.   Lets just keep building.

Mullin playing Mussini and Amar at the same time shows he has no interest in winning

He'd love to win, but he has to learn how to coach first. Hey, Jay Wright, Coach K and Bobby Knight learned, so it's possible. Plus, he's a Dream Team member so that still means some shit here.

Do you think Jay Wright beats Mullin today if they swapped rosters?

What does that mean?

You think Manhattan beats Villanova if Jay coaches Manhattan and Masiello coaches Nova?  The answer is no.  And that proves exactly nothing.  Villanova is not trading Wright for Masiello but Manhattan would trade Masiello for Wright in 2 seconds.

You think Canisius beats Duke if Coach K coaches Canisius and whoever coaches Canisius coaches Duke?  I guess that means the Coach K is no better than the coach of Canisius right?

Hes making the opposite point I think: that the talent differential between Dook And Canisius is such that it doesn't matter who's coaching. Because it's not coaching, it's talent. Unless you're talking about someone like Billy Martin - someone who wins everywhere no matter who he's coaching - coaching only matters at the margins. In game Doug Mcdermott's father will win you a couple of games a year all things being equal and dopey Steve Lavin will lose you a couple of games a year all things being equal. But mostly things aren't equal. What a coach says in the huddle or scribbles on the white board, it really doesn't matter all that much.

Thought about this after the game. Honestly a good question.

Thank you for that. Cannot believe it will be almost 6 years. We need to figure out that team one of these years.

What is wrong with you? He said Mullin would "love to win, but has to learn how to coach first." My one-line response was clearly about in-game coaching. How much more narrow does the subject matter have to be for you not to build straw men? I'm surprised you didn't conclude that I prefer tits over asses.

Would help if we saw him calling ANY plays after timeouts (other than the swing it around4 times until Ponds is open for a 3 play, which did in fact work...once)

This may be the most frustrating team I've ever watched. I seem to be so angry watching games, watching how they "move" - how they try to attack. It's such a level of incompetence. I'm so sick and tired of excuses and the same ol' responses from fans or media when talking about this team. Where is the fire? Where is the cohesive game planning? Why can't we develop a way to attack a team when they are clearly off their game? The simple answer is we are void of the proper talent and depth  to keep up with the teams we're losing to. But it's more than that - our players are not being put in the position to get the optimal results from their "talents." The way other teams move the ball, move on the floor, against us is something that seems like a foreign language when compared to our "style" of basketball. It's depressing. I'm tired of this.

Grow up. Our first and second year players had the defending national champs and #3 team in the country within 8 with three minutes left with AA, Williams, and Mussini as our three key subs.
how many did we lose at home to last year to the national champs ?

yes
And let me explain that Wright with our roster for the entire season practicing etc up until today would have beaten Mullin with our roster or theirs.

If you just switched coaches on the sidelines for 1 day then I don't think Wright would have won

Glad they didn't get throat punched today. Lovett, Ponds and Ahmed look tired out there.

Why?  Same roster on each side Wright beats Mullin, no shame in that.

Marillac clarified his remark but the better statement is same roster does Wright lose at home to Delaware St, gets run off the floor by Penn St and go winless in Maui?

Doubtful.  I think if they were 11-8 and 2-4 there would be a little less belly aching.

Again I think the roster will be upgraded next year but if SJU tanks rest of year that puts enormous pressure on Coach to show major progress next year.

Good grief!  I do not like Ahmed's game.  The staff is gonna have to reel in that crap.

Agree. Has to play but is more negative than positive right now. Forced shots, forced, out of control drives, goes for every fake and loafs down court. I notice that Mullin seems to yank him when he commits one of the above. Don't think he has connected dots as yet.

Needs to be introduced to a pull up jumper. Unfortunately, the die is cast. Although young, he is a junior and ideally should be a good player coming of the bench for a good team. But, has to assume bigger role on this roster.

Simon and Clark should provide a boost for sure but as of now we are still without the bruising paint presence we so desperately need. Hopefully a 5th year transfer of that mold will be out there for Matt to reel in this spring

It's concerning how terrible our ball movement is considering Lovett is supposed to be a great passer, and the backcourt is the strength of our team.
I actually believe Ponds is a better passer and gets more people involved when he has been forced to assume PG duties.

Amar needs to transfer so he can play at a level he is more comfortable with and we can sign a big man.

you thought Norm would have taken his team to the NCAA's the final year when they showed ZERO improvement in Big East record from sophomore to junior season ( even after the addition of Hardy and Brownlee )  so welcome to the out of their mind club
