Good grief!  I do not like Ahmed's game.  The staff is gonna have to reel in that crap.

Agree. Has to play but is more negative than positive right now. Forced shots, forced, out of control drives, goes for every fake and loafs down court. I notice that Mullin seems to yank him when he commits one of the above. Don't think he has connected dots as yet.

Needs to be introduced to a pull up jumper. Unfortunately, the die is cast. Although young, he is a junior and ideally should be a good player coming of the bench for a good team. But, has to assume bigger role on this roster.

Like I said, Ahmed would be a nice player coming off the bench in the Big East

Mullin playing Mussini and Amar at the same time shows he has no interest in winning

He'd love to win, but he has to learn how to coach first. Hey, Jay Wright, Coach K and Bobby Knight learned, so it's possible. Plus, he's a Dream Team member so that still means some shit here.

Do you think Jay Wright beats Mullin today if they swapped rosters?

yes
Your  wrong. Ponds and Lovett are small and only Fr,, Ellison So.  Mullin has no choice to play Bash plenty on minutes because we have no competent backup. Yakwe only had 1 rebound and Owens had zero points. . Their roster is superior to ours, more balanced. More exp. Although disappointed we didn't look that good, thought we would loose by 25, so can't complain that much.

Low post presence, someone make a bank shot! The best rebounder i know of was not the biggest or strongest. He wanted it more.

so by your theory there would never be any upsets in basketball because the superior roster would win every game

And who is to say that based on my following post which you didnt quote that Wright coaching our team an entire year with practice etc wouldn't have them playing better

Without effective low post bigs who can score and rebound we will never get to where Mullin wants this program to be.

Of course I think Wright is the better coach , and upsets happen But even w Wright coaching our team and Mullin coaching them all year. Villanova would win at least 9 out of ten times w the talent and experience differential IMO. You make it sound like if Wright coached our team we would be BE contenders. All I'm saying is Villanova is a great team and were not.  We might have a few more wins if Wright coached us all year, but we still would finish in the bottom half of the conference. Wright isn't a magician.

Wright with our roster for the entire season practicing etc up until today would have beaten Mullin with our roster

You're out of your mind
you thought Norm would have taken his team to the NCAA's the final year when they showed ZERO improvement in Big East record from sophomore to junior season ( even after the addition of Hardy and Brownlee )  so welcome to the out of their mind club

Scheppy will be around shortly to escort you both to the supreme commander, Joe3. In the meantime please enjoy Baldi and WASJU's two man show "Whitemanchester By the Three."

Exactly. We will have some good players next year. But we have no inside presence and got our butts kicked on the boards. We need another big desperately. If Owens can put on another 20 pounds , he may be descent next year.

Got to say the last two games I went to. Creighton and Villanova the refs were HORRIBLE. I mean really really bad.

Game could have been closer with a few calls but still you see why Nova was national champs. They are so fluid. Their guys move to open space and know where everyone is. Penetration, kick to corner, 1 more pass to wing BAM. Happened a few times.

St. John's is penetration, 1 handed throw to corner, mishandled, shake and bake, bad shot.

I still believe talent wise St. John's has enough pieces to be really good. I don't want to hear about 'big' men when Nova played 6'6 Paschal at the 5 for 26 min. Just need to make rebounding a priority.

I hear you and I don't think Wright would have us in NCAA this year. I just think Wright is much better coach as of right now and that's not disrespecting Mullin because I think Wright is better than a lot of coaches. I just think if Wright was coaching the same kids on our team they would be playing much better than what they are now and if Mullin was coaching Wrights team they wouldn't be playing as well as they are ( the same would apply to a lot of coaches ) and Nova is a team where size doesn't matter necessarily

Why?

Because I didn't see the clarification before I responded.

This is insane:

Q: Do you think Jay Wright beats Mullin today if they swapped rosters?

A: yes

Because Wright isn't going to coach up a  1-17 team to beat the #3 team in the country.  Nobody is. That Wright is a better coach than Mullin is obvious.

I don't think anybody dissagees. Wright is a great coach w a lot more experience than Mullin.

Agree.  We could also run the 5 Out Motion offense to combat our lack of inside presence.  IMO, our personnel is conducive to that particular offense.

By the way, our '99-2000 team "bigs" were Anthony Glover and Donald Emanuel.  An inside presence is certainly good to have at your disposal, but some folks are overplaying their hand when it comes to it.  There are a few other factors or flaws at hand besides the lack of an inside presence.

I also long said, I would send a barrage of players to the boards like a school of piranhas to bleeding flesh.  Too much standing around and loafing.

The play where Lovett dribbles himself to the corner, goes between the legs 3 times and then loses the ball out of bounds sums up the difference between the two teams and coaches. You think Jay Wright tolerates that?

Very frustrating to watch this team last 3 games.

Simon and Clark must have done a great job in practice impersonating Hart and Jenkins because we shut them down.  Our little guards neutralized Brunson but we had no answer for Donte. Can't put this one on Mullin, we were prepared.  They are defending national champions with three senior starters and a player of the year candidate, were not.

Yeah that was maddening.  Someone (Mitch, hello?) should have been in his ear chewing him out after that.  Just stupid play.

That was Lovett in high school. It's why I feared him in the first place but honestly he's toned it down a lot. While frustrating it was garbage time at that point. Overall he played really well against Brunson.

Re Ahmed......his background is AAU, HS and JUCO, Unless his HS coach was excellent he has never played serious defense or team ball, you have it you shoot it.  If he was playing with experienced guards it would be better but he is not.  The Freshmen are just that.  At the beginning of the game they moved the ball well and went up but as pressured increased they resorted to their background, again. shoot it if you have it.  With the lack of serious experience by the top 3 the result is not unexpected.  We all hope for the best based on their talent, which is real, but they are developing slowly which is the norm.

DiVincenzo out rebounding Yakwe + Amar + Williams is a problem.

Yakwe has averaged 1.5 rebounds per game over last 4 games. I'm at a loss.

And yet the St. John's Twitter Guru yesterday praised his career shot blocking totals. Fool's gold, but they try to sell this nonsense.
