Xavier Pregame and Predictions
« on: January 27, 2017, 09:28:11 AM »
This is actually a big game for Xavier also. They are 4-4 in the conference, just lost a big rivalry game and will probably be out of the top 25 on Monday. They have looked a big disjointed of late. The for us obviously would be huge to get back to .500 in conference 10 games in, who would have thought we could do that a after some tough early losses. Xavier has tall and long guards that I think will give us a problem, think this one stays close though.

Providence was a big away game victory, and hopefully they build off of that which will lead to a victory at the Garden to build off from.

Sumner to me is Xavier's best player & he is struggling with a shoulder injury apparently. Let Ahmed play their other scorer, Bluiett, & give it a go. We have a shot in this one. This is not a vintage Xavier team IMO.

Mack is a turd and Xavier will try to punk us.  Can't back down in the Garden. We can win this game if we cut down our turnovers, keep the ball moving, and hit some 3's. Johnnies, 80 to 76.

X hasn't looked like they did last year. They lack that second guard with Davis out of the picture.

Tall and long is not as much of a problem as ultraquick....our guards will be fine

I disagree. Our guards had trouble stopping the bigger guards of Xavier from getting into the paint last game. Offensively doesn't make a big difference probably but on defense we could not stay in front of them.

Yes, Sumner's length and size really bothered us.  And Xavier's length on the boards caused problems.  Need to rebound like we did in the first half against Providence.  I thought they would beat us up on the boards but the collective effort was good.

They will score in the paint.  Only hope we have is to cut down our t/o's as the score a lot off them; defend the 3 point line and make our threes.

Don't forget that the women play at 3PM so we have a doubleheader at MSG.

Wow. I had heard it might be big day for visitors but that is quite a group. Would be great if we could pull out a win and have a nice crowd on had. No football this Sunday so I am hoping people turn out especially with the solid start to conference play.

What an insane list of recruits coming to the game, need that dub.

I see Diakite is on the list, is he still scheduled to come here?

Of course, you want the "W," but if we don't get the win, then look like we belong on the floor.

Diakite is still slated to come here.

Saw there is a chatter among X fans that Sumner might be shut down for the season because of his bum shoulder. Wonder if there is any truth to that, guess we will know soon.

Need to come out with intensity from the get go. No falling behind by 15-20 points and then making a feeble compact. With the impressive list of recruits coming to this game it is imperative that we play competitive basketball. Fingers crossed.
