Great game. One of the best we have played. We were still sloppy with the ball at times but the effort was there. Lovett and ponds were great and Ahmed had a nice game. How about Yakwe he woke up out of his season long slumber. I think this is what a lot of us envisiosned he might look like this season. Maybe he can use this as a turning point for the season. Also credit to Owens he brought it as usual.

First game maybe all year where Yakwe had the energy and bounce he had last year. Maybe he can close strong...would be a nice springboard for the offseason.

Love the effort tonight...shot selection still a little wild at times, but they got after it and competed hard. Bring that intensity every night for 40 minutes and good things can happen.

Good win. Is this the first Big East team we have outrebounded?

I think we outrebounded x when they blew us out on the road

Glad he sees the correlation in the two, but where was that effort before today?

This was a statement type of game.  We have weaknesses but are definitely improving, especially in the effort department across the board.  Great to see us developing.   Now hopefully the kids get a taste of what they have to do and keep it up.

I'm a big fan of your boy Howard but he met MR. Ponds tonight….

Good job closing out this game.  I think our quickness gave Marquette problems.

Absolutely. Our guards brought the effort on d tonight. It showed

I thought we matched up well with Marquette because Fisher is their only "true" big.  He wasn't a huge factor and Yawke playing how he did in the first half was a gigantic lift.

Was an odd crowd because it was spaced out.  Ton of people in the 200 level.  I was able to snag a 100 level shortly before the game with a group of guys for a decent price.

Both guys impressed me.  Rowsey was much more comfortable handling the ball against pressure than the other guys, which shocked me.  And Hauser hit some tough shots.

Numbers:

This was our 7th best defensive performance this season in terms of efficiency. It was the best defensive performance of all conference games including the 2 DePaul games.

It was our 6th best offensive performance of the season. 2nd best conference game behind the Providence win.

It was tied for our 2nd best game percentagewise defending 2 pointers at 33.3%.

It was our 5th best offensive rebounding game of the season.

It was the 3rd best defensive game any team has played against Marquette this season. The two teams to play better D against them this year were Michigan and SHU

It was the 5th best offensive game any team has played against Marquette this season. The 4 teams to play better O against them this year were Villanova, Butler, Wisconsin and Creighton.

We forced more TOs per possession against Marquette than any other team has against them this season.
