He's a second year player that played in 7 games and multiple exhibitions and scrimmages last year before being redshirt. He was singled out and abused by true freshman Ty Jerome a few days ago. He's the fourth option for a very good team. Ponds is the kid defenses focus on for us. Stop Ponds, you beat St. John's.

So he still has 3 years remaining.

 ponds played defense in 1 game this year and that was against Marquette.  Has a long way to go to be a winning player. Could care less what he did in the PSAL, this is the Big East

Apples and oranges, Baldi, and you know that.  Ponds is a tremendous freshman who is asked to be the lead or co-lead option for us every night.  Dom is a nice complimentary piece who gets the benefit of playing with three or four other guys at a different time who are all really good players and who the other team is worried about stopping.  Ponds was in foul trouble tonight and he tends not to force things, either.  He had a bad game.  So what.  The kid has been awesome and we are lucky he had the desire and balls to stay home.

I love Marcus.  But he needs to grow up and stop the nonsense with being late to things, etc.  Kid is a heck of a player and will get paid to play somewhere someday (perhaps for a long time), but they won't deal with this crap when he is playing professionally, and he should start understanding that now.

Maybe, maybe not.  Hopefully they can talk some sense into him.  I think we will be very good with him next season and any fan of the program should hope he comes back.

I would think and hope he would take things more seriously if he was thinking of returning. Coming off a great win and going up against the best team and league and he does something stupid. When players get penalized , its always worse than what is  reported. Same with Jenkins on Nova

I"m with you on that 1000%.  He pulls this stuff with a team in Europe and they'll cut his a** and find someone just as good.  Needs to start learning these habits now.  And I hope Chris & Co. keep trying to get through to him on this.

Lol. Points per game is a completely meaningless stat. We, Creighton and Marquette play super fast and Villanova plays super slow so of course we'll have more PPG than Villanova.  Our offense is nowhere near as good as Villanova's and do you think Creighton's offense even with Watson was a full 8 points better than Nova's? No shot.

If you want a team offense stat that actually matters then look for total efficiency which is points per 100 possessions. This eliminates the gaping flaw in PPG in that it is tempo neutral and it adjusts for quality of opponents. Here is the BE teams in order of points per 100 possessions and their total D1 rank out of 351 teams is in parentheses:

2. Marquette 122.3 (7)
3. Creighton 119.1 (18)
4. Butler 117.9 (22)
5. Xavier 117.6 (25)
6. Georgetown 110.7 (80)
7. St. John's 110.2 (91)

So as you can see in reality we have the 7th best offense in the conference and 91st best in D1. Not terrible, but not good either. Offense isn't as much of a problem as defense is but it's still a problem
