Marcus has played much better than I thought he would. His defense has really picked up of late. I think Shamorie's active hands have inspired Marcus.

If Lovett comes back next year the sky could be the limit.

He's not going anywhere unless he's foolish.  He's an excellent college talent that will struggle to play for money anywhere with his size.  He should get his degree and then try to make his way pro.

He's not going to struggle finding a job overseas. That's for sure.

Obviously, we want him to return, but do you really think this kid is outclassed in Europe? He's a having a season as a freshman that we hoped he'd have as a junior or senior. Imagine if he had 4 or 5 big dudes with hands to dump it off to. He'd average 9/10 assists per game.

Specking of Marcus Lovett when looking for Player of the Game Villanova 2 could not find a tread.  Was it that there was no determination as to who was the player of the game

So in the meantime has anyone figured out why he has been sitting for the first few minutes of the last 3 games. Disciplinary ? Or perhaps Coach is trying to shorten his minutes a bit to prevent cramping, as has happened in the last few games. Or maybe it's the "spark off the bench theory"

1. Marcus has a history of being foolish + high maintenance.
2. Not sure as to why he hasn't been starting but I'd assume it's a very minor disciplinary action.
3. I love watching him play, he's great asset to this program, and hope he continues to mature at St. John's.

Think we can only now assess how much we were set back last year by his ineligibility.  He would have reduced our turnovers significantly, moved Mussini off the ball to shooting guard, and made us far more competitive. We never have to endure the 1 -17 fiasco had he been available to us last year and the general fan base would not have turned on CM and his rebuild so violently. LoVett alone would have changed last season for the better. He is a unique talent.

Here are 1st year field goal percentages for some of our more prolific scoring guards:

Harvey - 43%
Hatten - 38%
Hill       - 39%
Harrison - 38%

Come to think of it, all of our good scoring guards have last names beginning with "H".

Lovett - 49%

Kid shoots shots with a high degree of difficulty and makes them.  Has been historically good for us.  He's been a revelation.

To add to that, he was the most heralded and ready made freshman of the 15' class. Marcus is a special talent and from the outside looking in seems to have a sharp, conceptual mindset which should take direction well this offseason when he and HOF's Chris and Mitch talk about his future. Staying current, he's really come on in the past month, his leadership has really picked up fast. He and Shamorie are already one of the top tandems in the BE in their first year together, very exciting stuff.

Having LoVett and Ponds is something to savor.  You wish they would play their four years together and in good health.  the excitement they create is truly fun.  We have not had a back court like this since Boo and Michael.

Barkley and Bootsy were similar. They had more help, but overall talent is similar.

Sheed and D-Lo should have been, but Jordan didn't have his head on straight 90% of the time here...

Greene - 37%

Can't believe he shot only 1% worse than 3'lo and Hatten and got destroyed for it.  LIfe is so unfair.
