Agree that better play will correlate with improved recruiting, but I wouldn't call the kids we have landed the past two years "going through the same old BS". Also, we've seen first hand how a team can be terrible for a number of years and still land recruits in a given cycle - look no further than Seton Hall, who you know well.
Actually, Seton Hall still is living off their 2014 class (we all know that class was basically "handed" to 'em). They've plugged some decent pieces to go along with that particular class, but Seton Hall is in a situation where they're gonna need solid '18 and '19 classes or they could find themselves at the bottom of the conference.
Moose is on point.... Most of the top 100 will be signed during the first signing period. So, we're not gonna be in the best position for the '18 class to watch what we do in '18-'19. Of course, they'll be a few '18 recruits left, but most of 'em are awaiting to see who goes pro amongst the blue-bloods.
As, MCN stated, it'll work with the '19 kids, but doubtful for the majority of the '18 kids.
Agree that this is a year we need to take a big step forward. We have the talent and athleticism at all spots to be a tourney team. We can't have a horrible start with bad losses. I don't think we should with our depth. As far as recruiting goes, it also can't hurt that Mullin is out there handing out Western Conference trophies. It puts his mug firmly in the NBA landscape and kids do see that stuff.
I've said before this upcoming season is gonna be imperative on several fronts.
