2017-2018 League Predictions

I see the first five as locks for the dance. I think two and possibly three of the next group have a chance. I don't see any team gettting out of league play with less than 4 losses.

Reasonable list. I see SJU getting off to a tough start facing some challenging games with ASU, Grand Canyon & in Orlando Tourney. That said, I see them coming together in BE play, pulling a few upsets, winning 18 games overall, but going to NIT. Obviously a big key is avoiding prolonged injuries of consequence on a thin team, especially on the interior.

I agree. This list is about where I'd rank everyone, but you make the key Point here in that we are a thin team, especially upfront. It's no surprise at this point, but in order for this team to exceed the expectations of the NIT and achieve our expectations of the NCAA one of two players has to become a big man we can rely on.

Providence is in no way an 8th place team.  I don't see it.  I basically agree with Marillac's list of teams. 

But, I'd probably have DePaul at 9th and Georgetown in the 10th spot.

Our staff is really going to have to step up compared to last year. There are times they look great, the double high post offense v Syracuse was great. Unfortunately, too often we get out-coached. Cooley and his staff, McDermott and his staff; these guys are good coaches.

We have the horses to win games, do we have the x's and o's to put ourselves in position to win?

We are grouped with DePaul and Georgetown until proven otherwise. No defense equals poor coaching. Lovett and ponds probably leave after this year . This has to be gut check time.

I wouldn't debate having providence 1st but maybe you should educate yourself on their current injury problem

I'd question Providence @ #1 - with recent news that Emmitt Holt will be out to start season (and maybe much longer).

I'd question Nova @ # 5 -  believe Omari Spellman, who was ineligible next year, has chance in Big East to be difference maker as a big man, and perhaps Delgado will be only guy who eats his lunch.

Not a bad list from OP. I think SJU is going to have to fight those teams 7-9 to keep them at bay. Not cakewalks by any stretch. I agree that the 5 teams in front of them are all better today.

They have the horses but this year is all about taking that next step and coaching will be the key factor here.
