We held someone to 52 points.  Last year we would have won this game 101-85.

I'm concerned a smaller team outrebounded us 14-12 on the offensive boards.

Five guys in double figures and lights out at the free throw line are causes for optimism.

This AIC would have been competitive against the 2015 squad, sans Lovett.

We are def improved from last year, and it seems like the transfer strategy is working.

Trimble needs to lose some weight. I dont think hes quick enough to get by anyone.  In his mixtapes, he dunks with ease.... now, Im not so sure.

Trimble was throwing down some massive athletic dunks in the pre game warm ups.

Was hoping to see it on the Tres, but it starts at the anthem.  And if everyones right about his athleticism, his 3pt shooting is not in doubt, i would be happy.  If he lost 20-30 pounds and became an athletic freak, id be ecstatic.

This board can be tough. For 2 years everybody killed Mussini for being 155 lbs. and getting  mandandled by BE Guards.
Now we have a 6'3 bull of a freshman guard who's a high caliber athlete -- he was going to Florida, a perennial nationally ranked program -- before he was recruited over and decided to come here. We are lucky to have him. He can and will be effective in the BE at his size and weight.
Give the kid some time to adjust to the college game. He's a good outside shooter, a defensive force, and an elite athlete right now and will only get better.

He is not in the same shape he was in his higschool highlights. He has definitely put on weight, posters aren’t making it up. However  I don’t think it’s too concerning because he will only get in better shape as the season goes on and right now his size can help us.

I think it's a concern because there are going to be nights where someone is going to have to come in off the bench and contribute because LoVett or Ponds or Ahmed or Clarke or Simon are in foul trouble, hurt or whatever. Trimble is the first guard off the bench. He's also the only guard off the bench and he's out of shape and or slow, that makes us light up front and in the backcourt as well. I hope the staff enjoyed their summer vacation.

Lol Come on man. Everybody that was on the roster last year is in visible better shape.

Amar looked really slow. Owens looked exactly the same. The rest yes, definitely, they look like they're in great shape. Especially Clarke and Simon.

I will disagree with you and say Owens looks bigger. Still a string bean but less of a string bean still.

You may be right. I was hoping for marked improvement in the weight room. It's probably not easy for him to gain mass.

Garfunkel does have freakishly long arms.  It stands out.

Not sure I'm ready for 3 years of "Garfunkel" from Carmine.

Bash has shed all of his baby fat, he's going to be a 15-18 ppg scorer this year.

I forsee Amar getting 10-15 mpg this year. It's unavoidable and inevitable bc of our lack of depth, especially at backup Center where he is the only option if we want to go big.

If we are forced to play Amar 10-15 mins per game we'll be lucky to make the NIT

If you were there last night you saw how much Mullin was coaching up Amar. He's going to have an increased role this year as the backup Center. Yes there will be stints where Bash is at the 4, which allows Kassoum and Marv to give Tariq a breather, but it won't be the norm. Bottom line Darien left and they didn't replace him on the recruiting trail. Sid left which was even more capable minutes, it's Amar's role by default. He's a senior and has to gain confidence and own it.

Nothing against the kid, but like I said, if he is playing 10-15 important minutes per game this team is in trouble

I think Tariq and Yakwe need to split the "5" for most of the game, even if MC13 starts there.  I think the group we started is as talented as any collective 5 in the BE but I would rather play those 5 at the 1-4 as much as we can. Get a great rotation and feel for the way they play and let their talent prevail. If Owens and Yakwe hold their own collectively at the 5 then this team can win 20 games.

I think we will see those two mostly at the 5.  Add Alibegovic, who isn't incapable, and is good for a bunch of fouls and some decent jumpshooting.   We will have center by committee this year, but once again, people don't remember when we were truly "small" and this is not it.  There aren't a ton of teams out there with awesome Big men.  Tough part about it is that two of them reside in our conference with Delgado and Spellman.

The rest of the team is so bad, he ain't breaking out of anywhere.  It's too bad, because he's capable.

Is it me or is Ahmed pulling his stroke on his shot?  He’s shooting differently than last year.  He’s not following through.

When I first read this I thought Ahmed was having a really good time while playing

Has Georgetown played a scrimmage yet? Frankly, we don't know yet if they'll be terrible. It's still Georgetown.

They lost their best player from a team who finished behind us last year.

Understood. I read they played VCU right recently in a closed door scrimmage. I expect to be better than Georgetown. But still, didn't they destroy us once last year?

We have a good small team which can handle big men if they play  better position defense and not always go for the block.  Boxing out will be key, a weak point last year.  Fundamentals need to be learned.  Quickness can trump size if properly utilized and the first 8 are all quick.

Quick and noticeably stronger. Guys came back like men this year.

Best part about Trimble is not that he’s big and can shoot, but his hair looks like Rick James!  Contribute or not... he’s Rick James bitch!
