This doesn't mean they don't matter, only that college ball is a guard's game the way it has evolved.  Complete teams still have good post players, just maybe not as many lumbering types.  Next year we will have at minimum 3 guys over 6'9".  I'd love to add Brooks if we could as well...

The whole size thing is overrated if you already have several bigs then recruiting another one may be a luxury. However the Johnnies do not fall in this category. Odds are that one or more of their big guy signees won't work out so adding one more big body would be ideal IMO.

Maybe they pan out when you can teach them. Look at the kids on Boeheim’s roster. Where did kid Dolezaj come from? Never heard of him. Freshman almost had a triple double the other day.

Maybe I’m old fashioned . But I like some capable bigs on a roster. We really could have used at least one more for this years roster and think we would do better if we had more quality depth  at the 4 and 5 .  Player development for the bigs is another discussion. Would like to have a big man coach. As I have said, I like Mitch. But Mitch and Mullin seem to duplicate one another, not compliment one another.

Who said they don't matter?

Bigs take longer to develop than guards. Often times its difficult to find big men who can run with the pace of today's game. They are also more prone to injury and have durability issues.

Bigs have a time, place, and need. However guards  > bigs.

TO once again quote the great Mugsy Bogues, "Basketball isn't for big people, its for basketball players"........This year's team has some fine basketball players who are going to give their opponents fits.  Oregon will have a tough time getting their offense into gear if we harass them all over the court, Mugsy style.

That is well put. This is going to be a fun season if we play smart. We have talent . Can’t get 3 point crazy. Need to rebound and play defense. Coaching is a much bigger concern then lack of size.
