SJU-Iona game thread
« on: December 17, 2017, 04:54:38 PM »
10-6 Johnnies w 13 to go in 1st half

2 observations:

Kudos to the SJU staff for taking my suggestion to run 1 guy to the foul line v. the zone instead of 2. If you need any more helpful suggestions, PM me.

Justin Simon is going to be really, really good before he's done here.

Ponds should check into whether And1 mixtape tour is still around. That's where he belongs

Need to get Ponds the ball in position to score or make a play

On offense we have had decent shot opportunities, we just missed them. Rather than looking lost, i think they looked too casual...after they had a modest lead and blocked shots, it seemed to me they played way too casual.

We really let Iona hang around with our terrible shooting offsetting their terrible ball handling and our blocks.

I mean, yeah, but Ponds doesn't look decisive at all

no points in the first half against Iona is rough, no other way to put it

This is tough to watch.  I think I'll tune in to the NFL.

You think that was casual. You should have watched them warm up. Never saw a team like this. Bricks and missed dunks in warmups.  We miss Lovett. But Iona sucks. But atleast they seem to want to be here

Defense only reason this is still a game...with Ponds having a bad half, Simon foul trouble and Lovett out again it's no surprise they can't score

good second half and win this one...but just like with the other bad 1st half efforts, you're not winning big east games like this

Defense and the fact that Iona is terrible. Lucky to be tied

I've noticed this for years and it pisses me off immensely. They clown around jogging through warmups and it carries over to the game. The coaching staff doesn't give a shit

I thought we could have trouble with Iona but the problem is ourselves, not Iona.
We need Ponds or Ahmed to Show some emotion with a few scores to put life in this team.
Playing flat today could be a recipe for missing the tournament in March.
Providence should have lost to Stony Brook but a walk on gave them some emotion and they escaped with a win.

Bashir Ahmed pulling his best Charles Smith can't make a layup impression there.

Very sloppy effort for the Johnnies so far. Add to that no 3's and makes it a much closer game than it should be.
