Want to put effort on staff? Ok but players have to be accountable.

Outside of Clark and I guess Owens, no one really showed up today.

I won't be watching on new years eve.

They should be ashamed of themselves

Agree.  Although, I think the staff is very average.

At least this will stop the stupidity about whether we're better off without LoVett.
Who ever said that? We can't even afford to lose Trimble let alone Lovett.

At least they didn't tease us for another 2 months, make us think we have a legit chance at the tourney, and then lose the last 5 in a row. Better to kill our NCAA tourney chances before the new year, which they did tonight.

Absolute best this team will do in this conference this year is 8-10. Looks like those that worried that all 10 of our wins were against teams worse than us were right to be concerned

One game, but again effort was the discouraging part. Again don't mean to pick on Ponds but starts at top with your best player.

Lovett is no excuse for tonight...if they lost 65-63 maybe but not tonight.   They are better with him but sorry PC had a very mediocre non -conference and had a number of injured players throughout and they were able to get a few key ones back tonight.  But SJU should have been able to make them feel rusty and uncomfortable at home and instead they looked like Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.  Dreadful.

This thing can go south in a hurry...

Although maybe part of the terrible effort on D was all the minutes the main 5 guys have had to play? Don't really believe it but thought would throw it out there.

Agree....  Effort or lack of and continuing to take quick shots or settling.

One game doesn't dictate the season. Pitiful showing, plenty of time to turn it around. Need to get Lovett back and the staff has to adapt better in game. That being said, providence shot the lights out, that'll happen.

This is the only staff in the country that wouldn't play zone with 7 players.

A) Lovett may not play again this season for all we know. That is a definite possibility
B) The staff has had 2 and a half years to be better at in-game adjustments. If they didn't pick it up yet they won't miraculously pick it up sometime in the next 2 months
C) Providence shot the lights out because we let them shoot wide open 3s all game. Big East players will shoot the lights out when the defense during games is equal to the defense during pre-game shootaround

We better hope Ponds leg doesn't cause him to miss any games.  He and LoVett out will make us wish for the days of Mullin's first season and any season of Norm Roberts.
Correct and it’s a scary thought.

I agree, i' d like to see us switch defenses for stretches.

But a zone wont cure our problems tonight.  We have 3-4 guys who don't want to close out.    That will only make things worse if they do that in a zone.

1st conference game and they have something to prove and they don't play any defense. Providence is beatable...they barely beat Stony Brook. What a setback

St. John's Shamorie Ponds suffered an undisclosed knee injury, per Chris Mullin. Mullin: "I don't know what happened. He just said he's in pain." #SJUBB

90 plus AGAIN vs a big east team
