"Villanova has run the Big East for a few years now, and that won't stop this season -- although Xavier's Chris Mack has the best team of his career right now. Who will emerge from the middle of the league? St. John's has talent and is terrific defensively, and Creighton has Marcus Foster and Khyri Thomas. Providence has disappointed. Can the Friars, Butler or Marquette give the Big East another NCAA tournament-caliber team?

1. Villanova Wildcats
2. Xavier Musketeers
3. Seton Hall Pirates
4. St. John's Red Storm
5. Creighton Bluejays
6. Providence Friars
7. Butler Bulldogs
8. Marquette Golden Eagles
9. Georgetown Hoyas
10. DePaul Blue Demons"

At least we had hope for almost a full day of conference play.

8th is now far more likely than 4th or even 5th
