He would never say that. Even after last year he posted a message that he was coming back. Ponds would be smart to enter draft and get feedback and then hopefully pull his name out and return to school

Anything possible with Ponds, considering how great he is finishing season. Initially heard staff thought he would return, but would not bet either way at this point.

He's still not a first rounder in mock drafts. I sincerely think he should bet on himself and stay another year (or even two). His skill level will have to be truly elite and his athleticism will have to improve to make it in the NBA beyond the rookie contract. He's not someone who will be drafted for upside.

It's always hard to argue against someone like Harkless entering early and getting drafted in the lottery (or just outside of it). But if he stayed one more year, he's a top five pick and a lot more polished. Who knows what type of NBA player he'd be now.

There’s no point in Ponds saying what his intentions are now. He’s playing out of his mind the last 5 games and if after the season he’s given enough first round guarantees, he should go.

What about Fordham96's two year plan?!! Don't you know most teams plan to be better right after losing a back to back national player of the week winner? If we could just get rid of Ponds then we'll really be good in two years.

Crazy thing is the 2 year plan was conceived before the Duke game and the Duke win was going to maybe accelerate that plan. Now with the winning streak and Ponds playing completely out of his mind, it could end up setting the 2 year plan back multiple steps if Ponds does leave.

I don't know if the staff came up with this 2 year plan or not in the midst of the losing streak but unless you are Duke/Kentucky/UNC/Kansas 2 year plans are fairly useless with things changing seemingly every minute. Just try to win your next game and never stop recruiting.

There was never a two year plan. That's absurd. Ponds has been projected to be drafted in 2019 all season and is taking classes to graduate after his junior year.  If anything his poor shooting %s have added time to his stay. The staff has understood better than anyone on this board the NBA interest there is in Ponds. The "plan" is to try to keep Ponds for another year and win then. Ponds as a senior was never likely.

Was hoping that was the case. Sarcasm doesn't translate and all.

I didn't mind the 2 year plan idea. I think the bigger point was that despite the losing we were on the right track and let's give it a little more time. As far as I can tell that line of thinking was correct.
