I didn't have a problem with Clark chasing it down because you never know if Martin can save it and maintain possession.  It was just nearly a heckuva play by Martin.  Clark should've attempted to run in front of Martin without totally impeding or fouling Martin.

I don't have a problem with the hustle but he should have realized not to get close because Martin was dead, the ball was either going to go out of bounds on its own or he was going to simply save it to Clark assuming Clark did not get too close.  No way from that angle would he have been able to get a full grip an toss it very far.

They should equip players with a slide rule and a protractor so they can make these delicate split second calculations.

And in hind sight Napoleon shouldn't have invaded Russia. I don't disagree that coming within a hair of losing because you got too close to the ball and some guy makes a miraculous save except his foot is barely on the line is a worse play than not coming too close and not almost losing. I do though think that there's a difference between making that pretty good play - seeing the man break down court, reacting to the pass, judging its trajectory, calculating whether the other guy can get too it challenging its recovery - and making the perfect play, which is doing all that plus not getting too close to the guy. The latter is a lot easier with the benefit of hindsight and seventeen slow motion replays.

Here is the problem.  The PC game is huge now if SJU wants to make the NIT.  Why? Because I don't believe as an NIT at large will they choose a team under .500 overall.  Think about it, they lose to PC, they finish 15-16.  Even if they beat Georgetown and say lose to Xavier they finish 16-17.

Even with a decent RPI the under .500 is going to kill them.  They almost need to win the PC game.  PC game becomes the swing game, 15-16 or 16-15.  16-15 and win or lose to Georgetown they will finish .500 or better.

I would rather take shot at winning BET. I know is far fetched but if anyone can pull off a Gerry McNamara I would bet on Ponds.

I think the chances are better at 17-16, Norm's last year team got in at 17-15 (6-12).  Finished 16-14, beat UCONN in first round and lost to Marquette in close game.  Eventually lost to Memphis in NIT.

SJU got in NIT at 16-15 in 2013 under Lavin.  Similar records.  I can all but assure you they are not getting an at large with a losing overall record.

I know we only have 4 conference wins, but a healthy Ponds gives us a fighter's chance at winning 4 in a row.
If he is 100% healthy he should play Providence game. Not saying he should be a healthy scratch. Just would rather him be fully healthy for BET.

X wants the regular season title, you figure they go all out @DePaul on Saturday. So we very likely have the 8/9 game. Identical schedule to last year. Say we beat Georgetown Wednesday night and have 12hours of rest for Nova, the percentages are weighted heavily against us to win 4 in 4 days.

Play Shamorie on Saturday like your post season hopes are on the line, because they literally are. Win Saturday and we're playing with house money in the BET. It guarantees a .500 record.

Was at the game. I've never been Mullin's biggest fan and actually called for his firing, but man the staff pulled a rabbit out of their hat tonight without Ponds. Hope they build off this and don't go back to their clueless ways, but man what a game. The about 1/4 of the crowd that left down 5 points with 30 seconds left must feel dumb.

Sadly I did leave but it was down 5 with 17 seconds left and in fairness to me my friend drove and he said let's go. He had work next day  and I didn't and it was a late game so couldn't argue, not that I thought we would win but I'm not in the habit of leaving early ever. Got in car checked phone and couldn't believe it went to OT. Glad we won and I credit the defense as we had way more TOs than usual but we did match them on the boards.

I dont think the div 2 win counts. So we have to subtract the win. I say play for the NIT. Will give the kids tourny exp.
