Xavier barely holds on to beat DePaul. We are locked into the 9 seed vs Gtown Wednesday

We win today if Simon was just bad instead of trash.
Didn’t u argue all summer that he wasn’t a PG? Clearly he is not. He shouldn’t have had to handle the ball so much.

Yep...  We should've had at least another ballhandler (or two).  I guess the staff felt Ponds and LoVett was enough, and Simon could occasionally help in that department.

Why isn't trimble playing?

Cole was the better option due to our lack of ball-handling. You'll never see a Big East team with less ball-handling ability than SJU today.
Why isn't trimble playing?
Tough to lose this game.  Really would've been nice to squeak into nit. Anyone have knowledge on trimble?  I don't think he's that good right now as a frosh but definitely would've been a better option then a walk-on

Was told Bryan Trimble Jr. was available. It was a coach's decision. #sjubb

Here's what someone said, per attending the game....  Sounded like Trimble was pissed for being yanked.

I was at the game and after Trimble got pulled in the first half 45 seconds later Coach told him to go back in and Trimble refused to go in. On the other side Justin Cole came in the 2 half and played a heck of a game on defense for them. #sjubb

T/O's were only one part of his game today.  He is not a point guard but had 9 A's and last time I looked defense was also 50% of the game of BB and he had 4 steals and helped hold Friars to  piss poor 3 PT shooting and to 61 points versus the 94 at CA.  Shame for calling him trash after the effort he has given all season, including playing 90 minutes in 2 and 1/2 days.

WOW! maybe opens another schollie Trimble ain't good enough to pull that shit. He ain't no Scottie Pippin. Was going to speculate maybe he gained more wait. Seems with this program guys who need to lose weight never do and guys that need to gain weight don't either.Seems like our strenght and conditioning coach alternates between Orson Wells and Twiggy.

He could have had 20 turnovers today. Two blatant calls went in his favor being ruled out off Providence after horrible decisions by him. He also forced himself int 4-5 terrible shots to bail him out of of turnovers. For some reason Providence only pressured twice and he turned one over and missed another turnover by a foot on a reckless bounce pass. Providence could have won this game by 30 if they pressured the ball. I'll never knock his defense or hustle on the other side of the ball and glass.

He's out of position is my point. I hope it's one that now gets through to the staff for next season. Simon has one of the worst defensive rebound to offensive rebound ratios you'll ever see. He needs to be hitting the offensive glass on every shot next year. This is a kid with 3-4 offensive rebound potential and he's being wasted on the perimeter.

If this causes him to transfer then we're better off. Most likely it's a freshman mistake and an experience that he'll learn from. He won't find a better situation.

He seems confident that he can beat out the walk-on for the first bench spot.

I’m not sure he’s better than Cole. He’s a hair better than Ricky Torres. He’s a better shooter, but they are equally awful defenders.

There is now way Trimble is an awful defender. He is as average as it gets and has some upside as he learns to anticipate and gets in better shape.

I agree he was out of position but that is no reason to call him trash as you implied--any player that gives hisall does not need that kind of insult.

Played like trash. Big difference. Great kid. It's frustrating watching him play out of position and I'm not convinced it's always out of necessity like today. Lovett was a SG when he played this year. I think he can be really good at the 4.
