Simon was the player of the game.

For sure. I don't put much stock in +/- as a stat in basketball but his had to be really high tonight. Noticeable difference on the defensive end with him out there. Likely wouldn't have been as close as it was had he not picked up those 2 early fouls
Would probably be plus 11 as in final score differential as I don't remember him coming out. If he didn't play 40 it was close.

He sat for 10 minutes in the first half
Forgot the early foul trouble (old age). Him playing entire second half had me thinking he was always out there.

Clark played a good second half after the garbage first half. He needs to be on the glass...Ahmed too. Ahmed can be such a factor when he wants it on the offensive glass. We need that tomorrow and some open threes from the secondary scorers.

People going to look at stat sheet and disagree but Alibegovic played tough D jumped out at people and put a body on Govan.

I agree. No offense. But, earned his money on defense. Nice job.

AliB at a party-chick asks him how he played in the basketball game-"I put a body on a guy and jumped out at people"-chick-"Huh?"  :2funny:

See he helped set tone, team was playing really soft in 1st half.
People keep crying for  a guy who doesn't play hard to play. Would take Ali over Yakwe every time.

And another intangible guy Ahmed played a really strong game. I am hard on him but another guy whose stats don't tell whole story.

He played tough defense. He needs to stick a jumper or two tomorrow. Trimble also needs to gives us 2-3 triples.

Wish I could have been there.  I thought the staff did an excellent job tonight.  Pick and rolled the crap out of Derrickson and Govan, going to the one-side of the floor pick and role isolation with Clark absolutely killing Derrickson.  And played bigger than normal to counteract Gtown's bigs.

Also Ponds clearly not 100%.  But was efficient on offense.

Mullin also has more BE Tourney wins then Looie had over his last 6 years at SJU (87-92).  Looie had exactly 1 conference tourney win over that stretch, an OT win over UCONN in 1992.  And if it weren't for 2 ft's in regulation by Malik Sealy SJU would have lost that one and he would have went 0-6 in his last 6 years.  At this point especially considering they have played on Wednesday all 3 years he has been the coach it is not saying very much.

That's because outside of that run to the Elite 8 with the Barkley Artest crew there has not been much to say for the last 30 years of St. J's basketball.

New big east. Is reasonable. Old big east was kind of tough. Still we had a few good teams

His effort wasn't there in the first half...slow rotations in the zone and soft closeouts in man with zero rebounds. He should never go a half without a rebound playing the four with his strength.

We need boards. We can't  beat Xavier in 13 hours with this performance.
