The coaching was was a C+ based on the poor roster composition. The best coach in basketball probably squeaks out 3 more wins and some bad ones could have lost 3-5 more IMO.
No excuse entering a season one problem with a starting guard away from disaster. This is NYC where unheralded point guards can compete with anyone. As bad as it was, I think it was a lesson, among a few others, the staff only has to learn once.
My only problems with the staff are how they were so reluctant to go to zone and how they didn't stress offensive rebounding like every great college coach does. Mack said after the game that offensive rebounding is key to them because your shots can't always fall but your effort on the offensive glass is something that can always be there to get you points. It feels like we have four guys running back or standing still 98% of the time when a shot goes up.
