He's a smart kid, i don't think he's cut in the same mold as omar cook or rysheed jordan.  He'll test waters, if hes G league bound he'll be back and at least 2nd team  all american.
Ponds >> rysheed in college. Rysheed 3 inches taller. Bigger and stronger. Better defender. Had better PG skills.

Agree on all except the PG part. Sheed's handle was bad and I always said that would be one of the main reasons he wouldn't make the league. For the NBA, Ponds does need to work on his PG skills. For next season though, I'm  hoping we have another PG on the roster to free Ponds up at times and let him just be more of a scoring guard.

What about Sheed makes you think he had better pg skills than ponds? Sheed averages 3 assists with dlo, Phil, dom to pass to.

This is not a knock at all. I love ponds. I think he is 6’1 SG who should play 4 years at St. John’s and then ply SG in Europe. I don’t think he is a PG.

Didn’t think you were knocking him. But if you don’t think Ponds is a pg (I happen to think he is) than what did rysheed do that made you think he was?

I thought rysheed was good and under different circumstances been great. PG seemed to be his position. In college he wasn’t a great PG. if he ever played to his pontenial I think he could have been a great pick and roll PG and a great defender. kris Dunn kind of player .
Haven’t really watched the NBA since the knicks traded John Starks. I know the knicks have emaunuel mudaiy and French rookie. Neither are very good. Both have longer body. Neither could probably drop 40 on duke. Both are getting paid in the NBA.
I think Jordan could have improved and would have gotten a chance because of his size and athleticism.
Ponds- besides being small. Is not a great NBA athlete.

Not thrilled w this article.

“14. Shamorie Ponds

St. John's
PG
Top 100: No. 58
Stats: No. 7

Consensus: 1.4 WARP | Height: 6-1 | Weight: 175

So far, my top 13 line up reasonably well with our rankings. That changes in a hurry starting now. Ponds, who only cracked the top 100 in the most recent update, shot 38 percent on 3s as a freshman before dropping to 27 percent this season. At the same time, he has improved his assist rate from 3.7 to 5.3 per 40 minutes. If Ponds can combine his shooting as a freshman with his playmaking as a sophomore and add an outstanding steal rate (he led the Big East in steals per game the last two seasons), then we'd have something.”
