When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

Maybe 3 or 2. Might have the Houston Baptist and NC AT@T locked up.

Have any of these ONSNA kids panned out?
Seems like it's a bunch of raw athletes that never evolve anything more than good shot blockers.

Obekpa was just that. Even elite programs like Kansas with Cheik couldn't make him into a good college player.

Doesn't bold well with Boubacar

Diallo was only in school for one season, so I'll give him a pass.  He had more potential than Obekpa (particularly, on the offensive end), but he left school too early.

Obekpa would've been one of the top two or three shotblockers in Big East history, if he had remained at St. John's.  He was also fairly decent on the boards.

Yakwe was on the All Big-East Rookie Team as a frosh, but totally regressed.  He had hands like "Chubbs" from 'Happy Gilmore,' but to regress so badly has to make you wonder.  Player and staff has to take blame, per his regression.

Diakite may be (believe it or not) more athletic (and, can put the ball down on the floor) than the three mentioned above, but he's coming off a patellar tendon tear.  Not to mention, he's also raw like the other OSNA player's mentioned above.   I'm not sure how much he'll be able to help us next season, but he could potentially turn out to be a good pick up before it's all said and done.  Unfortunately, we need help pronto.

I agree, these OSNA kids seem like raw athletes for the most part.

If we lock up femi and the kid from houston i think that's a solid start. If we can get another big i wonder if earlington will redshirt cause we would have keita femi roberts diakite and the other big assuming he's not a sit out. I wouldnt mind them redshirting someone here and there to develop them.

We need at least two instantly eligible transfer bigs. That’s what we lost. Hopefully, the staff can sell the BE opportunity in NYC because they sure as shit can’t sell themselves.

In theory, redshirting is the right idea, but we can’t afford to have another 6 player season. Staff has no idea who’s coming and who’s going.

I was saying earlington could redshirt if we land femi and another big. We would then have 5 guys in the 4/5 spot. I'm really hoping tariq stays, he would be the perfect stretch 4 on this team and he has good chemistry with ponds. It would be nice to return 4 out of 5 starters with the depth we have coming in

I expect several players to either get hurt, drop out or transfer because the staff doesn’t think about where they stand with their players. If we redshirt anyone it will probably be someone we need just to field a full roster.

Mullin runs the team like it's the NBA.  There's zero loyalty to St John's.  Just suit up and make the best deal for yourself.

Ya no big deal. I'm sure Yakwe's people see it the same way

Yakwe has people?

Too bad he doesn't have hands.

Yakwe played for how many minutes in the February? The overall trend of transferring is kind of worrisome, but it's unbelievable how people are actually distraught about him leaving. The writing was on the wall for awhile. Not every transfer situation is equal

Lack of development is the problem

Yeah his Biddy coach should be ashamed of himself. Should have taught him how to catch in 1st grade

He quit, and left.  There is a very bad culture going on at sju right now. However you want to slice it,  Mullin has 0 control over his program right now with all these defections since year one.

Like I said other day, bringing in projects with opportunity to play is easy part. The hard part of developing and sustainability is what staff is failing miserably in.

Bad culture...?    you have idea what you are talking about...    the one sound thing that is happening is the culture...  transfers happen everywhere, its not a St. John's problem, its a college basketball problem...   stability in the roster would be great but don't forget, you see a kid "leaving" -  you have no clue if the kid was politely given the option to say he was leaving when in fact he was told there would not be a spot for him next year or his role would not expand...

The play needs to better, the coaching needs to be better but the kids playing play hard...  they work hard, they get along and the kids here are not selfish...   if the problems with the culture were so bad, there is no way a team bounces back from an 0 - 11 league start the way this team did...

90% of the "fans" have ZERO clue as to what is going on with the program, the players or the coach...

Your estimate is short by about 9%

pmg911: Post of the year. I appreciate your insight into the ridiculous posts by our so called fan base. I think you are being kind when you say 90% are clueless. I think the number is higher.
