Great to see Mullin and Mitch at the Warriors game last night instead of recruiting for that open spot, or attending SJU graduation where players on his team walked. These guys definitely have their priorities straight.
Them being honored as nba legends at a playoff game being watched by most of our targets is not a bad way to recruit during a dead period.

That could be true and should be true. But we know Mullin and mitch don’t recuit.

Don’t get this response in this context. They can’t contact recruits during this time, so advertising their stature as NBA HOFers to a wide audience of our recruits who are big nba fans seems like a positive thing.

Separately, they can and perhaps should be criticized for not pounding the pavement enough. But that is a different albeit related discussion.

What a joke, at the Warriors game instead of graduation. Really shows their players that they care about them!

Agree. Imagine talking to a kid next week or when ever they can actually discuss being at the game and talking about themselves being great players.
But they won’t do that.

It’s definitely not helping.  The fans aren’t stupid...

Calm down.  Dead period now no recruiting, ends 5/25.

After this weekend we'll see if things move both with grad transfer and staff...

You know it's May on a St. John's basketball board when we complain about two of our coaches being honored at a NBA playoff game during a dead period recruiting.

I’m totally calm.  It’s just that the staff is much more visible at leisurely events than recruiting events.  I think this is the first time we have seen Richmond in months. It doesn’t play well.   Doesn’t speak to being invested.... Hanging on past pseudo-glory is why we are where we are...  Matt still doing all the recruiting... that’s obvious...

Braziller posted a nice pic of Willard with the graduating seniors on twitter. He also posted one with mullin with amar, tariq, and bashir.....oh wait

Mullin had a private dinner on Friday with bashir and amar’s families to celebrate their graduation.

I totally made this up, but isn’t something like that highly probable if he couldn’t attend the graduation because he was being honored by the GS warriors and geting maximal national tv exposure for the program during a dead recruiting period?

This board is unreadable right now.

If you don’t like the news, just make up your own news.

That was a pretty thrilling run we had to the sweet sixteen last March. And to see one of our own drop 40 on Kentucky. Just incredible. See how much better that sounded than the egg we laid?

No offense to the Warriors, but honoring Mullin is laughable. It’s like the Yankees honoring Roberto Kelly. He’s been replaced, and then some.

+1. Not only does it look bad, but the reality is just as bad. They are in charge of a Big East hoops program and they're not even around for their players graduation, but rather 3,000 miles away. Makes them look disinterested in their own team.

And for those that say it's a good recruiting tool to be seen at a pro game, that's rubbish. It's only a good tool if you've proven that you can get kids to the next level which neither of them have done, ever.  For a marginal program like SJU, the faces of it (Mullin and Richmond) should be at home building the squad and finding another big body. No surprise here, just more of the same.

While everyone is certainly entitled to their opinions, I just don't understand the never ending complaints from some posters.

If you are that unhappy with the program, why waste SO much time coming on to a forum to anonymously complain and rip the staff.

If people don't have better ways to use their time, I honestly feel sad for them.

How do you know that it’s only being done anonymously?

I agree with pmg about the constant barrage of negativity towards Mullin and Staff . Criticizing  2 HOF players , who are attending a NBA playoff game is mind boggling in its absurdity . And , the recurring but, totally inaccurate propaganda about the lack of Recruiting going on , is laughable .  Ponds, Simon, Clarke, Trimble , Keita, Dixon, Roberts, Ellington, Williams  didn’t get here by Accident ! This Year, Figueroa, Wright and Carraher were added and possibly 1 more player before this Year’s Roster is set . Next year Gaffney and others are being targeted aggressively . And , who cares if Matt is doing the legwork in Recruiting? It’s getting results  . It’s hard to fathom the Anti Mullin nonsense and it resembles CNN in its annoyance quotion . Last Year’s results are over and done with. Move on . The Roster for 2018-19 is a good one .

I never said it was only being done anonymously.?

But on here, unless you have said who you are, it's anonymous..

I clearly know who some posters are and some know me. I have never hidden my identity and that is my own choice. When the old BEB was running, I actually organized a drinks night to watch a game with posters.

I do believe that a massive majority of posters on here would not so adamantly voice their complaints & critiques to Coach Mullin if given an opportunity. I also don't believe many on here would talk to posters the same way in person as they do sitting anonymously behind their keyboards.
