Best newcomer not named Heron?

I'm gonna go with Figueroa, never see him play but just mh guess. Seen Dixon a few times and like what he brings but this staff is gonna need LJF to ome out balling

Is Dixon better then mussini? More athletic? Bigger ?

LJF- From what I read, formertop100, walking bucket on every level. I'm very excited to see him within our stacked roster.

I'm also excited to see our true freshmen trio: GWill/Earlington/JoshRob. Ideally on the floor at the same time together in blowouts, develop chemistry and grow with eachother for the years to come.

I was able to watch Dixon practice with the team a few times last year and he's really really good. I think it'll be nice to have him give Shamorie a rest when needed.  I can see him coming in and getting buckets in a hurry.

We know Dixon can score 15/16 easy against our non conference schedule. That doesn’t mean you’re ready for the BE.

From what I can see, LJ is a seasoned player. Looks like a pro who can legitimately play all over the court.

But let’s remember we said this about Ahmed, and look how that turned out. He wasn’t terrible, but he wasn’t anything close to what many of us here were expecting.

I definitely expected more out of bashir. His production the last two years was solid but his efficiency was poor. His shortcomings were between his ears. LJ seems to have all the tools you want in a player, if he’s got the IQ to match then we’ll have a stud. I’m hoping his nice assist numbers and quality shooting percentages are an indication that he knows how to play the game.

Yep. Agree. He was so used to being the guy the team ran the play for that it took him until February of last year before he noticed that there were four other guys.

In terms of LJ, IDK how to make a strong case for my hopes, and I’ll call them hopes instead of expectations because IDK who he has played against over the past two seasons. I see a lot video of him from 2015. What’s his game like now? It’s a mystery to me.

Still, he was a 1st team All American Juco. That doesn’t mean what it used to but it could mean something.

Yes.  He's a scoring point guard but he can definitely handle the job.  He's scrawny but personally I don't think that matters from that position in college.  I saw him outplaying both Lovett and Ponds at times. He's not better than them but he is good. 

I am really excited to see us put out a Ponds, Dixon, Heron, Fig and Simon line up.  While undersized, it'd be impossible to guard.

Very athletic but doesn’t rely on it. Potential to be good perimeter defender. More of a slasher than shooter but he can fill it up.

I would temper expectations for LJ this year. Jumping  from one year of JUCO to the Big East is really hard, and we've got some guys like Simon, Clark, and possibly Heron in his way. Trimble as well.

Dixon will be big. The kid can really shoot it and he can score and handle. I've always felt when you've got a dynamic scoring combo like Ponds is, you need a dedicated PG under him for at least 15 mpg. Dixon isn't quite that kind of player but I expect he'll be able to handle point 3-5 minutes at a time.

Not sure.

However, I think the most important piece this year to determining how far we get will be whoever can step up as a big man on defense/rebounding. I'm guessing Keita will be that guy.

Speaking of Heron, what's the latest on his status for this year?

The question is where is his ceiling?
What has he been doing for the last year+?

We’ll find out, but I’d expect him to be ready to contribute day one in Nov because he’s played D1 ball.

Mullin gives a lot of guys the greenlight for shooting. Could Dixon be a Microwave off the bench for an offensive spark? First guy, second guy off the bench?

I know it was just a scrimmage with little D but LJ looked real bouncy amd athletic.

Baldi in mideason form

Based on Friday night, Figueroa was not only the best newcomer, but the best player, period.

The scary part is, he probably won't start this year.  That's a luxury that we have not had in a long time around here.
