I can’t believe part time Mitch lasts much longer.

Even if he can't coach a lick, and I'm not saying that he can or can't because for all I know he's a fine assistant, two hall of famers are always better than one.  It's a pleasing aesthetic and I hope he stays.

So your take away from a press conference where Cragg comes out and thanks Louie and Kaiser and goes on to talk about tradition, loyalty and family is that it's looking kind of dicey for the greatest player in program history. Thanks for the hot take.

I agree in a sense.  I wish Mitch was on staff in a special advisor type roll ala Gene Keady. With Mullin's deficiencies as a in game coach i wish we could have a real coach like Dunlap or Mike Rice in Mitch's actual assistant position.

Last years team had flaws. But is shouldn’t have finished tied for last place. With heron we have plenty of talent coming in. Their should be high expectations.

I found the quote "There was no real background to suggest he would be a great college basketball coach." to be very telling.  It's an introductory press conference obviously he's not going to start off a new gig saying hey this guy I'm inheriting sucks and we're not going to be good till I get to pick my own guy.  However, I read that one single quote as pointing out that it was a very crazy move to hire a coach with zero experience.  I'm hopeful Cragg can help Mullin work out and become a multiple time National Championship winning coach at SJU but I agree with you that Mullin's seat is certainly warmer now then it was when Gempeshaw was calling the shots.

The biggest living icon SJU has ever had who's currently 38-60 (12-42 in conference) as a coach. If the AD thinks there's someone out there who can do a better job as coach then he'll make the decision that he was hired to do, regardless of what Mullin did as a player.

Yeah I didn’t read it as a “for whom the bell tolls” type of comment.  I did find it very pragmatic and refreshing.  I enjoyed the “let’s get real” part.  He said something that many were thinking.  I think Cragg was just saying that “Mullin wasn’t prepared for this, he’s a great basketball mind but not a built-in program leader and needs my help”.  Cragg took the reigns right away and laid it out on the table.  I liked him immediately because we need somebody who is going to take the Athletic department reigns and not a shrinking violet.

Wonder if the brewing mess at Duke re Zion Williamson's eligibility and the rule passed by the NCAA after the Cam Newton mess when his father acted as his agent and solicited money and other benefits Mississippi State could have been a factor in our new AD's decision to leave Duke after so many years?

Could the situation with Williamson's father having solicited cash and other benefits from Kansas before choosing Duke have been known by those at Duke during his recruitment?
