Without seeing the game it's all speculation.

The FT's are a positive because I expected much better under a Mullin coached team in his previous years. Other than that, not much to take away from this.

We sure have a lot of strong opinions about a game we didn’t see.

Poison, the voice of reason? They could have played a box and one all game or a triangle and two. They might have run sets for Heron and Keita II all game. Nobody knows what went on. The chronic malcontents are happy with whatever supports the narrative - which, evidently, is that Mullin knows so little about basketball that he can coach a team with the NBA players on it down to midpack A-10 level. See? They were right again.

I also find it funny that everyone knows how much URI sucks. It reminds me of how everyone knows that Providence is gonna suck just because they graduated seniors.

It's also a little odd that many of the same posters who complain that we've stunk for three years because Mullin can't coach or recruit and Richmond does nothing and St Jean is barely out of his teens are the same ones who think we should be steam rolling through our OOC schedule. URI won their first round tournament game two years running while we were fighting with DePaul for last place. Doesn't that make us the cupcake?

Aren't you the one that laughed at the remark that only Ponds would start for URI last year while they were winning NCAA Tournament games and we were fighting with DePaul?

Yes I was and I still think the idea that Simon wouldn't have started on RI is absurd. However you missed my point. Which was that many of the posters who are complaining about the results of the exhibition game are the same ones who think the staff is incompetent and who point to the last several years results as proof of that. Which if that's true they should have expected to lose. Whereas I think don't think that the staff stinks; that the results of the past several years are not dispositive of anything; and that the results of the exhibition game are meaningless.

This team SHOULD steamroll everyone on their crappy OOC schedule. The question is WILL they. Cupboard is full. Have 3 star players with depth. Hardest game is at Rutgers. (Rutgers again is picked last in big 10) good teams win this game.

Foady- what is your opinion? One time it would be nice if after you called me stupid to say. I disagree Chris Mullin can coach because he does this well or that well. What do you think of his staff? Why are you ok with him keeping it intact?

I am excited for this year. I expect to have fun season. I also expect coach Mullin’s shortcomings to be very apparent to his new boss. Positive change will be coming. The rebuild that you guys have talked about will finally start. I do not believe the staff will come back next year as is.

Foady- what is your opinion

My opinion of what stupid? If you learned to write complete thoughts in complete sentences it would go a long way to demonstrating that you're not stupid.

Quote
I disagree Chris Mullin can coach because he does this well or that well. What do you think of his staff?

Oh, I see. I'm fine with the staff.

Quote
Why are you ok with him keeping it intact?

Because I live in the real world, where it doesn't matter what I think about things that are out of my control. For example: despite the fact that you're completely unlearned and exquisitely ignorant, you're a teacher. I can't control that - although if I'd had the misfortune to have had children and you were their teacher I'd slit your throat and not lose a moment's sleep. So it doesn't stress me that you have a job. Which is why I don't sign onto obscure websites and complain about the fact that you're allowed to affect the lives of innocent young children, despite your stupidity and venality and overall cuntiness.

Okay, thanks for repeating that for the 700th time and doing so without a scintilla of wit or insight. For my part, I believe that I hold you in complete contempt and I think that you're an idiot and I expect that I don't care what you think or believe. I'd be very happy to never read your opinion about anything ever again, because everything you write makes everyone stupider by osmosis. I have a lot of IQ to spare, but I worry about some of our more challenged posters. Because continued exposure to you will worry their ability to tie their shoes.

URI doesn't have to suck for this to be disappointing. New coach, mostly new team and they beat us right out of the gate with what will be our best team in at least 8 years.

I don't even care as much that we lost as seeing Simon go for zero offensive boards and Clark just one. Why even have Simon? 6'5 215 7'3 wingspan...beats everyone for rebounds on the defensive end but lives on the perimeter on offense? How does any coach allow that.

That is the weakness of these free-following do whatever you want systems...nobody does the hard things. Everybody wants to shoot and nobody wants to crash the offensive glass and get back on D.

Foady- thanks for the entertainment on the ride home. How many posts this week crying over others mocking your hero? Only going to get worse.

Even if we go undefeated OOC, It will mean nothing. Schedule is that bad.

There's no hiding for Mullin this year. You don't need to be a genius to tell if he's coaching this team up or not this year; or if it's more of the same helter skelter, undisciplined BS. Clearly he was confident enough not to shake up his extremely inexperienced, suspect staff. Only a few weeks until the grading of his crucial 4th campaign begins.

You used too many adjectives and adverbs - helter skelter, undisciplined, confident, extremely, inexperienced, suspect, crucial, up, few nearly 20 percent percent, show don't tell - but the message is on point: this is this first year Mullin has fielded a competitive team (on paper) and he'll win with them this year or he won't. If he doesn't win with this roster he never will and they should move on. If he does the chronic malcontents - who would be happy to see Mullin fail because they've postulated that he's a failure and because they're only happy when they're unhappy - will find something else to complain about, because that's what they do. I'm a horrible unpleasant misanthrope with no redeeming qualities and I cannot fathom applying that degree of misery to something that allegedly brings me joy. If I were capable of empathy I'd pity them but all I can muster up is loathing, repulsion and contempt.

The humanity! lol Well I'm at least glad to see you agree with the stakes riding on this season and the leadership direction of this program moving forward.

Guy I know u have a thesaurus and like to use words that no one else uses. That doesn’t make you smart.I honestly don’t know how much you know about basketball because you are so full of shit.

Beating the worst teams from the big 10, acc, pac 12 and aac and bunch of other worse teams mean NOTHING. Not an accomplishment. Just another mistake. And that’s if we win all of them.
The only one crying over the scrimmage is you. I expect him to lose.

I haven't been on here much this off season but Poison is now the voice of reason?
What happened?
Good to see that some things have stayed the same though. Bunch of people overreacting to a closed scrimmage. Almost in mid season form. I was a little disappointed there was no complaints about the referring in the game they did not see.
I am pretty sure the RI kid walked on that one basket and it was not called. I really do sense that happened.

Keep doing cartwheels over a home loss to an inferior team in which they kept score. Then you and Foady the Toady can have an hour long hug.

Does anyone know who has the all time best record in pre season closed door scrimmages?
Because evidently they are a big deal and I now feel I should know more about them.

I know it ain't us. If it doesn't matter and it's just a scrimmage than don't keep score. Then I won't give a rat's arse.
