Rutgers gets consistent wide open looks from deep and knocks down 12 three pointers.

We turn on the Jets in the second half, turn them over and hang on for the W.

Heron drops 30. Ponds has 24.

After we win we jump around like we just made the Final Four.

ST John's 80- Rutgers 74
Ponds scores 36
Heron 21
Figs and Simon combine for 20 boards
Dixon guards someone
Roberts plays 5 mins scores 0 points grabs 2 boards blocks a shot and commits 3 fouls. Basically replicating Keita production.

I hope Roberts gets some minutes in each half. What ever stats he accumulates doesn’t matter. He just can’t kill us. I hope he can guard his man. And get some rebounds. His plus minus rating (hockey stat) hopefully is close to even.

line 3.5, but I think we put together a really nice game on offense and defense.  Been hard on Mullin, but tonight we show a much better team than in first 2 games.

Last year Rutgers got the Hall in the last game of the OOc schedule so they were much better prepared.  Young team, size or not. SJU 81 RU 72

Johnnies - 71
Rutgers - 63

I'm going to call today opposite day:

We get to the line in the first half and use that mentality to get Rutgers to sink in on dribble drives for in rhythm, open, kick out threes as the night goes on.

Trimble knocks down a few big ones.

Heron and Clark live at the free throw line. While getting Baker and Omuruyi in foul trouble.

Ponds drops the easiest 25 he's had since coming to Queens.

Syracuse getting killed. Hoping UConn does also

I think if Clark doesn’t get any fouls 20 feet from the hoop we’ll win. If he does then I see a 50 foul drag of a game that will play much to the favor of Rutgers.

We still don't defend the arc, down at end of the first half. Clark spends most of the half on the bench with 2 fouls. Roberts has to play because of the size of the RU frontline.

Second half, turn on the full court, 3/4 court defense. RU guards produce almost as many turnovers as Rockland Bakery. Heron and Ponds realize they have to takeover the game. I think the coaching staff actually has a good game.

Clark can get a WIDE open 3 any time he wants on a pick and pop. He's been open a bunch of times already and they haven't given it to him.

That said, good start on O but have to rebound on D

Need to exploit the mismatch with Clark on the offensive end. These 7 foot dudes can't keep up with him

The ball needs to get inside the 3 point line on offense!  Sure, we're making shots but it's not sustainable!  Absolutely no penetration or passes to the post will come back to hurt us.
