This is good.  The school needs to get over itself; basketball is not played and won by life-long saints.  An adult who makes a mistaken should have the chance for forgiveness.  To me, that's the Christian way.  And it's not like he was trucking cocaine down in the Keys, or like he got caught with a battery of guns.  Tell those guys they can be outraged all they want - freedom of speech is permitted, after all.  If the new assistants bring in some recruits, they'll be cheering like everyone else.

These are two upgrades on that staff for sure. We all complained when Norm didn't have ties to the local AAU teams and now he does. I don't think any could argue that these are bad hires and I certainly welcome both on board and look forward to future

On the money I think its the vincentian values that the school is founded on. We applaud guys like Shareef Fordham who have turned their lives around and we should here as well. Everyone makes mistakes and he has shown remorse and paid his debt and is a better person for it. Lets not dwell on this its stupid. Lets worry about what recruits we're going after.

I guess the fact that the Daily news reported it on Monday,
but the school still hasn't announced it yet, means that
its agreed to, but contracts yet to be signed ??

well said...the guy paid his dues for his mistakes and has represented himself very well since.

In the end 2 very good hires...good to have them aboard.

The year he spent in prison. How well he has done with the New Heights programs in teaching these young kids. Also everyone has known for a week or 2 since he has been hired why is everyone getting all up in arms about it now? Monkey see monkey do?

this was my only post on this topic...I understand that this news has been out, but why all of a sudden is everyone defending this guy now? You can talk Vincentian, Christian, Presbyterian, etc values all you want. Some of us cannot buy it.

Well it can't hurt recruiting to have the best "hookup" in the BE

I don't see the problem in the hired. If the man learned his lesson and continue on the right path, cool. We all have made mistakes.

not to discount his effort, but if all i had to do was teach young kids ball for a few years in order to be pardoned of my conviction, thats just too easy, but thats not for me to decide.

I wouldn't say defend him but don't judge him. Do you know the man? He made a mistake. He has done everything he can do rectify his mistake. Lets see what he can bring to the program. He has great ties with many 2010 guys that can help us out.

He did his jail time.  After that one's debt is considered paid.  No pardons for the man.
