No it’s not evident and purely speculative on my part. However it is just as speculative to suggest he was being recruited over. If anyone was being recruited over it was Trimble. Someone needs to run the point next year and Dixon was in line to do so. I don’t believe he fail out of favor with the staff, he was our best/only offensive option coming off the bench and was shooting over 40% from 3 and we know Mullin likes offense. I agree with Marallic that his recent playing time was more likely due to the staff knowing he was leaving.
Yes it would be stupid for the staff, however where are the ships gonna come from? They may have preferred Trimble or someone else to transfer but that player would want to want to as well.
It may very well be as you and others have said however until we hear for certain let’s not paint the narrative that Dixon is the bad guy. It’s possible that wasn’t the case. We may never know. I wish him well and move on to GT.
Dixon and Trimble were both recruited while we were in emergency mode. Things have changed with Heron materializing out of thin air, Figueroa proving he is the real deal, Williams emerging as a legit Big East player, Eli Wright /David Caraher committing and redshirting, and Cameron Mack and Nate Tabor committing.
I'd rather have Dixon than not, but I'd rather have Steere here next season than Dixon and it's very possible it was either or.
Dixon didn't defend. His spacing, his help, his double-teams, how he handled every screen...it all suggested this kid would be a defensive liability at this level his entire career.
He made the right move leaving mid-season given his prior redshirt.
