In a must win setting, can Marv and Justin snap out of their funks all while MH and Bryan battle injury? Kamar Baldwin and Jordan Tucker dropped a combined 54 of Butler's 80 points in the Hinkle matchup, limiting them is key. The offense was stagnant without MH on Saturday, hopefully a restless, spirited crowd sparks this team to a much needed W.

Butler's a tough matchup for us. Obviously they can stroke it from deep as we know all too well from Hinkle. Gotta stop Tucker. Playing at home we barely squeak one out.

Prov and Butler are similar teams.
Both of them get after it. We don’t.

Worst part of the Providence loss was seeing them quit. Mullin has to motivate his team to try more than every other game.

No one ever accuses Providence or Butler of phoning it in.

It’s a shame that the weather will prevent some people who have tickets from going. Seems to happen once a year.

I do recall somehow getting to MSG in a blizzard for what I call the greatest win of the Norm Roberts era, or error.

Syracuse @ MSG during the 2006-2007 season. It was the best season they had under Norm. I believe the starting 5 that afternoon was...

PG - Lawrence
SG - Patterson
SF - Mason
PF Hamilton
C - Spears

Bench was Larry Wright, Tomas Jasuloines and Calhoun. But maybe Calhoun started and Spears came off the bench.

Nevertheless, it was Avery Patterson’s one shining moment as a Johnny, and Norm’s, too.

From Zach -- “Energy and passion ... you hope it’s there every night, and obviously it’s not with us. I’m not quite sure how you coach that." This quote from Chris Mullin on St. John's inconsistency would concern me if I'm a St. John's fan or administrator. That's part of the job. #sjubb

I agree 100 percent, Chris has largely failed in this regard.
Back to predictions- we win 73-72 but I can see this going either way with less crowd due to weather. The team will continue to play street ball but it may be enough against Butler.

I actually think personnel wise this is a good matchup for us. They don’t have any dominant big men. We played so bad last game we played them. If they come out with fire and play a team game this is one they should win but.....

Patterson’s 4 point play. Think we beat ND not to later with a Larry legend game winning 3.

Put your $ on St. John’s tonight if you are a betting man. It’s a rare Vegas layup.

The game vs ND was pouring. Some guy just wanted to get rid of 4 tickets. I told him I would pay 20 bucks for 4. They were first row behind ND’s bench. Great game. Fun night

This game and most after it will be determined on the contributions from guys outside of Heron LJ and Ponds. We need Clark and Simon to score and Keita, Roberts, Wiliams and Trimble to play hard. You do that, this team is tough to beat.

We should have smacked Butler. Don't have a great amount of confidence tonight.

I want to see how (IF) we defend differently, based on the results of the last Butler game. How are we going to adjust to their 3 point shooting? Will we let Tucker keep launching, who guards Baldwin?

If Heron is not at full strength, LJ needs to stay out of foul trouble. He's been our second best player but sometimes gets too aggressive going to the hoop. Considering how bad we played Saturday, were still only down 2 with 8 minutes left when Roberts made two blocks on same possession then LJ drives for what looked like would turn into 3 point play and the lead but got called for offensive foul. Was also his 4th and he came out of game. G'Town goes on 10-2 run and it's lights out. We may have lost anyway but thought that was the turning point.
