Last time we won a tourney game, Shamorie was still in diapers and our recruits weren't born yet.  And that was a win over Northern Arizona.

Time to start a new trend.  2 decades is far too long.

Very excited for the team. I hope they can string a few wins together. A very interesting potential 2nd round matchup with TO.

So happy as a fan, for the kids, staff and school to be back in the dance.  Let's have some fun and make things interesting.

Great setup for us to get a few wins. This is a playin game, If we lose to ASU it will be as if we didn’t make it.

Screw that.  On Wednesday March 20th, 2019 at 9:10 pm, my basketball team will be playing an Ncaa tournament game in Dayton, Oh.  It will be the first, hopefully of many, for head coach Chris Mullin and staff.

Don't try to rain on my parade with your nonsense.

Wonderful for the team and glad to have some players who have been there before.

The game is to decide who the 11th seed in the NCAA tournament will be, it’s reality. You can spin it however you like, you usually do. It isn’t called a “playin” game for no reason. I guess to you a lose to ASU would mean progress has been made.

Don’t get me wrong, still plenty to be excited about.

Let me give you a brief history lesson:

In 1951 the Ncaa tournament was expanded to 16 teams
1953               22 teams
1953 to 1974   22 to 25 teams (Yes it varied)
1975               32 teams
1979               40 teams
1983               53 teams
1985               64 teams
2001               65 teams
2011               68 teams

I recall in 1979 there were people telling the fans of teams 33 to 40 that 'if you lose your first game it will be as if you didn't make it'.

And in 1985 there were people telling the fans of teams 54 to 64 that 'if you lose your first game it will be as if you didn't make it'.

And so on and so forth every time the field has expanded there were curmudgeons waiting to say you didn't belong to be there because you wouldn't have qualified under the old format. But those people were idiots.

No, a loss to ASU would mean progress has been made to any reasonable fan with no other agenda.

“On April 22, 2010, the NCAA announced that the tournament would expand to 68 teams, with four "Play-In Games" beginning with the 2011 tournament.”

So I’m an idiot for referring to the term the NCAA themselves used to describe the games in THEIR tournament. So either they too are idiots or your a fool for making up your own meaning for someone else’s product.

It's not called a "play in game" its called the First Four. 68 teams play for a championship. St. John's is one of them.

Yes I’m aware the term has recently been officially changed. It’s a term, there still in the tournament. I’m just glad they have the opportunity, whatever it may be called.

Great to be dancing. Congrats to everyone who suffered through three miserable seasons.

We won some big games this year, and the talent is there to do some damage.

I have NO faith we can put together more than 1 good performance so let's hope it happens on Wednesday, BUT we definitely have the talent to make a little run here if we somehow put it all together (including staying out of foul trouble).

If we can get one win and take Buffalo to the wire I would be happy. Anything better than that would be a gift.

I feel the same way. Our first three potential games are all good matchups and winnable games.

I actually felt that way about those three teams before the selection show.

Agree.  I feel we are playing with "house money".  As last in, nothing expected if we lose but wins will be upsets and the tournament announcers/commentators love them.  Love the underdog role.  One win and we have the most since 99-00 season and the first win in the NCAA since that season.  One game at a time.

Obviously a long way to go to even consider...but if we win Weds and can knock off Buffalo, how ironic that we could be squaring off against the reincarnation of Kevin Durant and son of the greatest real estate investor since Steve Roth, Tariq Owens.
