Dave - completely right, but unfortunately this was the situation for the past 3 seasons/ever since they parted ways with Slice.
As mentioned, assuming Mullin doesn't quit, and knowing that there's no way he's going to tell Mitch to leave, what he should do here is let Matt shuffle off Nebraska (if he has not done so already), work with his NBA contacts to get the wunderkind a low-level NBA assistant gig, and hire two solid recruiters who can also coach bigs and gameplanning, respectively. Mitch sticks to advising the guards.
Slice didn't bring much to the table outside of recruiting. Don't think he was the right fit for the staff.
Really don't want to rehash all of that.
- Move Mitch to special assistant.
- Hire a previous head coach known for x/o to become associate head coach
- Hire a seasoned DOBO
- Hire a personal assistant for Mullin
- Hire a video coordinator
- Hire a new strength coach. We lost some of our better strength coaches due to $$. Can't skimp on this
We need more diversity on staff, more organization, more experience.
